Happy Sunday everyone!
2 quick apologies
1) Sorry we are a couple of hours late the post was set to private by mistake 🙁
2) I get over excited as usual in this one and (as usual) do a fair bit of waffling! I shall introduce a gag for future episodes lol
we shall allow it, and happy Sunday
This was a test……..
Wanted to see how long we would wait around for the show to be posted.
Well…….we waited! 🙂
I was wondering if it was late; typical that the week I’m up all night with back pain is the one week the vid’s not out on time. ?
You waffling is the highlight of the show sir! Never stop
Really testing us to see if we could survive for a few extra hours, and we did so no worries.
A gag, not a gag……now i have a mask going spare if required, zip across the mouth type. Zip closed no talking, if not required i`ll put it back before the wife misses it.
Top of the morning Sirs!
?
@ Warzan
It seems everyone of the usual suspects has gone back to bed. Well, that’s my moment then…
HAPPY SUNDAY!!!!!
Typical.. someone always types faster ?
Happy Sunday COG/Backstagers!
It’s the Super Stealthy XLBS SHOW!
So good that it had to be hidden from the world.
Early or late, I’m always ready for the XLBS.
Happy Sunday all!
Looking forward to watching, got plenty of Space Marines to work on!
hurrah!
The fact GW says not to dilute the contrast paints with water still makes me think it’s a glaze medium. Glaze medium if mixed with water breaks and separates the paint pigment making it practically useless.
Happy Sunday!
Greenstuff world fluor paints!
Been using them to highlight items on my infinity models. I could imagine a watered down Lime mixed with white for a ghostly wash over a zenith sprayed primer/base (grey to white)
Looking at the GW contrast painted Space Marine example…
I reckon the ‘technical step’ is still requiring the edge highlighting as well as the gold etc. (although the classic model hasn’t got edge highlighting so not a true comparison… Dodgy marketing!) All it’s saved is the shade step.
For more organic skins and scales it looks good.
@avernos. I had forgotten about Scroggy. Is he still about. I played American Football with him for quite a few years
I assume so, I’ve not seen him and his mate Chris in years, shame, both excellent painters
Yeah they were
Great show!
My Anycubic Photon arrived on Friday. Any suggestions on website where I can find files for terrain and miniatures? I’m currently just starting this process.
Y’all have found some amazing towers and items to build. I might have a Qidi Tech 3d on the way soon.
Flowers on. A splash of color here and there makes them look great.
For the GW paint. I would love to see if John can mimic some of the current Armies he has painted recently using the new GW paints. Maybe just mimic one soldier of vehicle.
Thingiverse has probably the largest collection of 3d models. My Mini Factory is a bit more, “premium” but there models usually cost. r/3dprintedtabletop over on Reddit also has people post their free models almost daily and is another great, and unfortunately unknown, resource.
Chernobyl is awesome. Really enjoyed the first two episodes. Much better than Biker Grove with PJ and Duncan! A point to ponder regarding resources, resources are only as limited and finite as mankind’s ingenuity is limited and finite. Doomsayers keep going back to a Maulthusian view of the world, I am slightly more optimistic. @warzan your ghost army is how I did my KoW undead. All my skelebobs are just washed and glossed varnished. White undercoat, then washed in green or purple then gloss varnished. For my elites, I did a black undercoat, white dry brush then the wash. I’m… Read more »
Happy Sunday guys!!
Still talking about the Pyramids and still no mention of their use as power plants!!
Loving these conversations dudes, brings me back to my youth as a wide eyed psychonaught!!
Keep up the great work guys and promise us you’ll have some video footage or maybe even live updates of the |D-D boot camp, that would be awesome for those of us who couldn’t make it 🙂
There is a thread on the tomahawk forum about sci-fi saga. It is about 6 years old though
I’m sure I’ve seen shallower storage boxes at B&Q
The other alternative is to build some inserts and stack a couple of armies on top of each other.
@warzan if you are thinking of using those Parabellum minis and the GW contrast paints, but perhaps don’t want to lock yourself into being 100% ghostly, might I suggest taking a leaf out of Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere setting, more specifically the Stormlight Archives series? Those books feature “Sharbearers” who wield one of two types of artefact known as Shards – Shardblades (giant swords with no weight that the wielder can summon from the ether and which slice through victims souls) and Shardpalte (armour resistant to Shardblades and most other weapons that enhances the bearers physical abilities) – that are characterized… Read more »
@warzan, couldn’t you just re-skin gates of Antares for 40k?
I have never played it, but i I have played WoE and the weapon choice that people enjoy doing, that family of games gives that in a lighter manner (again based purely on WoE). Just thought it might stop having to reinvent the wheel…
GoA is the edition of 40k
Rick never got to write. It would very easy to bring it into line I think
for a minute there i thought @dignity said Biggins, instead of big’uns. Which would be a VERY different sort of army 😛
Dip,banners and shield decals restore most figures
The World could do with the return of the old Swagger Stick. You look very proper, you won’t stand around with your hands in your pocket and you can swat the local youths when they knock your top hat off. We should absolutely reveal the existence of Aliens. If Aliens come for us we’re either going to be their slaves, wiped out or traded with and we need to find out which. If tabletop gaming has taught us anything it’s that Humanity owns the stars and must “Purge the Alien, the Mutant the Heretic” in the Emperor’s name. @warzan you’re… Read more »
Happy Sunday folks
Flowers on the lizardfolk army. The colour just adds something. As my late father used to say when I asked him about paint schemes, “there are no clashes in nature, son”, then proceeded to show me the flowers beds in the garden and usually made me weed them when i was out there, but oh well! Brother @averos your Crusades army looks great, very, very effective. I’d agree with Lloyd, and not bother with the black rims. How many 10mm figures do you reckon you could get on a 25mm round? How small a sized figure do you think you… Read more »
cheers, I wouldn’t drop below 10mm to be fair, and stick with 4 infantry and probably 3 cav on a 40mm base. @torros has based some 10mm greeks on 25 rounds on his project
@robert. On a 2p you can get 3 10mm figures across with upright spears. or 4 if you put them in 2 rows of 2
Cheers, instead of going and painting all the tiny fighting men I have unpainted, I’ve been looking on the Pendraken website looking at even more tiny fighting men to buy.
As we all do. Just waiting for the rest of the TB line to be released
Ordered a few Copplestone 10mm fantasy figures as an experiment, so will see how they look and whether I have the patience to paint them.
There easy enough. Not sure if you’ve painted 10mm before but if you need any help give us shout
Happy Sunday COG’s one and all
Happy Weekend! on the subject of Alien Life elsewhere in the universe and revealing this to the wider population, two quotes come to mind. “Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.” ― Arthur C. Clarke “A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it.” Agent K, Men In Black. AS for the Lizardmen of Warhammer, in the World That Was there were no females or males for that matter they emerged spontaneously from the Spawning Polls in and around their Temple Cities in accordance… Read more »
I realise there are legal concerns, and that now you are in businees with GW you need to keep them happy, but might it be possible for you to lead a community built alternate rules set for 40k? I’ve thought before that 40K could use the kind of rules changes GW cannot impliment because they have to honour 8 editions worth of iterations to keep their audience happy and for it to still be the “same game”. The IP has a lot of potential but the game could benefit from starting again from first principles. Ditch the large volumes of… Read more »
I would go to squad fire points to speed the game up and bit. If you account for an opponent’s armour etc in the hit roll then the whole hit/wound/save can be got rid of
Something definitely needs simplifying there. Theres definitely too many steps to damage someone.
I’d like to see some more granualarity in being engaged in melee. A whole unit should not be engaged if just one of its members is, especailly if the unit is large enough to spread out over the whole table. This makes no sense. I’d also like to see models being able to retreat from melee and still take shot, even if they take free strikes. Its too easy to negate a tank with one measly farmer with a pitchfork type grunt.
Agreed I had my first real game of 8th Today and wow a lot of rolling.
I roll to hit, then to wound, then he rolls an armour save, then a Feel No Pain then a Special 6+ Last Chance Save.
There has to be some way to get that down.
Maybe if they used D10’s they could get more modifiers on the dice? +1 or -1 on a D6 is pretty big.
I agree that increasing the size of the dice opens up more granularity and would be good to see. Even if they moved to a 2d6 system like with Warmachine that opens up more possibilites for dice results.
Another thing that bugs me is the terminology aroung hurting someone. The terms Wound and Damage are so easy to muddle it makes it extra confusing when learning the game. It’s easy not to notice they refer to different things. Another good reason to reduce the number of steps there.
Ever since 3rd edition people have been talking about a D10 system. Many years ago we played 40k using Stargrunt but they were very small scale games. A friend says Squad hammer by Nordic Weasel games us very good
Yes please for the 40K SAGA, ton of work though to design a battle board. And See Gerry has a painted army now for Joan or Arc 🙂
350 years too early ish
Happy sunday all!
