After some initial research I’ve decided I’m going to use Jagdgeschwader 27 (JG 27) as a basis for this project. JG 27 served in North Africa from April 1941, with units rotating out for other theatres of operations or to upgrade to a newer variant of the BF-109. This should make it a good unit to follow along with this hobby/campaign project.

While I await some more books arriving in the post for research the first thing to do will be to prep the BF-109E that come in the starter set and get them undercoated. I also need to pick out some desert paint schemes from 1941. To add some variety I won’t be painting all the aircraft in the same colour scheme.

Really looking forward to following your project, the painting schemes of the planes in the African theatre are georgious. I went down the obvious road of the “Battle of Britain” with my BRS starter set. Enjoyed painting the minis very much though. Hope you will too, @fithgodsmote.
