Building a city based on Venice
Painted up and finished tile with river section
So what I did different here is because its close to the river I chose to do the platform more in a dock like style. But the borders says in the same sand color so when I put them next to each other the blend in. I also used a different wall paper pattern.
Now for the river. I start of by texture it with sand, small stones en tile grout. To make this rock hard: use water downed pva glue first, add the sand, stones and tile grout. Spray it with a 1:1 mix of isopropyl (does not matter 70% or 99,9 %) and water downed pva glue. Then spray it again but just with the iso.
(got this idea from amazing guyes luks aps and the terrain tutor from youtube, be sure to check them out)
I do this before any painting happens. Next I prime it black. And leave to dry.
For painting:
- start off with a base of craft paints brown (use a dark one)
- Shade with a home made shade or something like nuln oil or agrax earthshade.
- Drybrush with the base color
- Drybrush again but with a dark green.
With this all dry I add some small stones with super glue, some tile grout, dark green flock, some static grass etc.. And seal it all down with the sprays you can see above.
When this is all dry. I will make it spectacular with 1,5 cm epoxy resin to create a water effect. To be sure it says on the board I make on both side a border with crystal clear silicon and give the shape off splashing water/ a river. When this is dry, I pour in the resin. Do this from a height to make sure you do not have any air bubbles.
When this is all dry, I added some water markings on the border and resin to replicate movement on the water. This will be done in white paint.
