Below are the mostly complete Magma Golems. Painting these too a while, and I’m still not 100% on the results.

i painted the fiery cracks starting from a very dark red, then working up through reds, orange reds, oranges, yellow, and finally white. It’s essentially reverse highlighting, painting the first color broadly in the cracks and surrounding areas, then painting each successive color in a smaller areas within the crack.

I found after the first guy you need to paint the initial dark reds VERY wide to have enough physical room to paint all the “hotter” highlights.

color breakdown

1) dark red (Vallejo)

2) 50/50 dark red/flat red (Vallejo)

3) flat red

4) orange-red (vallejo)

5) fiery orange (old school GW)

6) yellow (Vallejo)

7) white (Vallejo)

The eyes were painted with a darkened jade green (50/50 with flat black) then painted as gemstones using old school GW Aeldari/High Elf gemstone methods of creating arc-shaped highlights towards the bottom of the gem. Dot of white at the top to show reflected light.

bases still need completing.
