Tenacity is great when one has it, as is progress. Too much of a grind can be a pain but learning how to pace oneself and kind of fighting against laziness is an acquired skill. The old martial arts idiom ‘your greatest enemy is yourself’ applies to a lot of stuff.
On the torquise I was using Guilliman Blue: a GW glaze. As for the purple I cannot quite remember. I think it was a coat d arms basecoat getting lighter with GW purples and an army painter red tone wash to give it a burgundy/wine colour.
Scythes were always a cool Chapter. As for changing him you just need to find the right thing.
