About the Project

With a bit of luck (and the help of a fellow gamer) I now can join this competition. 22 years ago I bought my first White Dwarf and shortly after that my first paint set.

So in September 1997 I bought my first White Dwarf (#21 of the German WD) and shortly after that I bought the “Citadel Colour Paint Set” which came with one Warhammer Fantasy Chaos Knight, one Warhammer 40.000 Space Marine and brush.

Like any young, impatient lad (I was 22 at the time) I glued them together and started painting. I had the paints, the brush and no clue on how to do this. I remember priming the miniatures by painting them white with the brush and then applying all paints unthinned and poorly shaken.

But the miniatures are of a simple design and take the paint easily and make the novice painter that I was feel good.

Oh, I think I saw those elves just… this weekend? Haven’t I @warzan? 😉

So here I am, going for it. Still unsure if I should stay 100% to the painting instructions or deviate. Priming grey with white zenithial highlighting.

NOOOOOOO! All my work! (AGAIN)

Somehow my submission for the project got eaten by web-goblins… so I will now only post pictures. Can’t redo all that text. NOOOOOO!

Third times the charm… *sigh*

And we are ready.

Now that everything has dried I applied two coats of varnish and after that dried I dry brushed the sand and added a bit of detail. Also some more thin lines of wash in certain areas just for the final steps. I call this one done. I hope you like it too.
