Clipping off the Old Bases
These old Elves have lived out their days being as old school as you can get. First task is whipping them off the bases.The Bases
I expertly designed the bases on the back of a scrap of paper during an episode of The Weekender XLBS, and my good friend elessar2590 took up the challenge of making 3D printable files for me pretty much by the time the show had finished lol

The key to the bases is I wanted them to be able to take 2 pence coins in the bottom to give the minis weight.
Many 2ps are also magnetic which will be handy for magnetic trays later.
Cork and Priming
I want to give the heroes a little bit of body so I pulled out a sheet of cork and got to ripping and tearing!
I added a bit of cork throughout the set of bases I undertook in this first phase.
Then primed with Army Painter Leather Brown - my chosen base rim colour.Brother Lloyd in the MIX!
Brother Lloyd then lent his expertiese to help me come up with a fast basing mix. I have no recipie as its really just chucking a load of lots of what we have lying around in a bucket.
And this is the Bucket!

Time to move onto completing the rest of the army.
A morning spent removing the minis from their bases and make fixes to broken weapons and shields etc.
One cool little elf had an arm and weapon missing so I decided he will be come some form of mage in this new army with a magic standard he has ‘acquired’ from some dark source. (Thanks to @noyjatat for the inspiration for that)
The dragon took a bit of repair work too but is looking fine now 🙂
Lets nail the rest of those bases
Some 3D printing later and I have the rest of my bases, I then added some bits of cork and primed them with the awesome Army Painter Leather Brown
Once the primer had dried, I dry brushed the bases and in the case of the large dragon base I added a bit of left over wall we had lying a round from a Bolt Action Bootcamp, just for that added sense of environment.
I particularly love the little base I crafted for MEGA MAGE lol, he has a really imposing look on this IMHOFinal Push
No doubt about it… this work can get repetitive, but I find if I’m on my own I’m able to slip into the zone and quite enjoy the process. Andrea was a little surprised as I spent the guts of 8 hours continuous working on these lol
