Find Favour & Save Yourself At The Grimm Masquerade
April 25, 2019 by brennon
Druid City Games and Skybound are looking to tease you with all manner of tricks in The Grimm Masquerade which is coming out later this year.
In this game, The Beast has invited you to his castle for a masquerade ball. However, when you step through the doors you are magically transformed into one of the creatures from the Grimm Forest!
The aim of the game is to try and then find three artefacts of favour from amongst the other attendees whilst also avoiding picking up artefacts which act as your bane.
At the beginning of a round, you'll be given two cards, one of which you keep and the other you pass on to another player. You'll have to try and deduce why certain players are passing on different artefacts if you want to figure out who is who.
Once someone has found three artefacts of favour they win a round or if they are the last one in the game, they also win. They will then gain a token marking their victory during the first stage of the masquerade. As soon as someone gets to three tokens, they win!
Player elimination can suck in these hidden role games but if you're eliminated early on you get to play as a wandering ghost, betting on the masquerade and who will win. Plus, you'll also have a turn where you get to hand out artefacts to players in hopes of influencing the outcome.
I like the sound of this game as an alternative to regular hidden role games!
