Loyal Warriors Of The Hold & Snarling Lycanfiends For Wrathborn
March 18, 2014 by brennon
The minds behind Wrathborn have been working away on the game and indeed the miniatures behind the scenes. As a bit of a taster on the miniature front we have an awesome look at a work-in-progress Warrior of the Hold and concept art for a Lycanfiend.
I think this is a neat looking Norse inspired model that will most likely be adorning my board if I were to take up Wrathborn. It's pretty hard to pass up the chance to play as some Viking-like warband on the tabletop. His axe is looking pretty epic too!
Looking to the future we have this piece of artwork on the Lycanfiends. It looks like a bit of a twist on the standard Wolf format and takes things in a new direction where they apply Lycan to a variety of different other breeds.
Encouraging signs!

Not sure how many comments I have left in me after being lambasted for denouncing soft porn mini’s but here goes: doesn’t this figure look like every other Norse miniature out there? Is there anything that sets it apart, aside from so-so sculpting?
Maybe he needs a fig leaf, a leather mask, and an impractical weapon, like a slotted spoon.
I like that it looks like a typical Norse warrior. The luxury of choice is always nice and some people might find something in this design that is more preferable to others out there.
He looks quite Dwarf-like to my eyes – don’t know if it’s that the head looks quite large in proportion to the rest of the body or that he’s just quite bulky. Am always looking out for Dark Age minis but I don’t know with this one.
Does the wolf have a touch of the Eygptian/Anubis going on in the art too?
I think the model looks good. Not draw-dropping, but good. I think the large head is due to the beard and helmet. You can’t really make out the actual size of the head.
With that said when they have masters to show off and gameplay examples I’ll take a serious look at them.
