April 19, 2019 by cassn
After nearly two days of non-stop gameplay, the judges over at Mensa Mind Games have chosen five games to receive the illustrious official Mensa Select Seal.
The five winners are:
- Architects of the West Kingdom, Renegade Game Studios
- Gizmos, CMON INC
- Gunkimono, Renegade Game Studios
- Planet, Blue Orange Games
- Victorian Masterminds, CMON INC
Mind Games is a board game judging marathon, where 300 of the United States most avid board gamers get together to find the five best new-to-market games to receive the Mensa Seal. The games are awarded based on the originality of their concept, challenge level, as design quality. All games must be value for the price, easy to comprehend and play and provide quality entertainment.
We're relatively unsurprised with this list here at OnTabletop - these are all games which have grasped our attention and imagination over the last year (with Architects of the West Kingdom topping that list!). Mind Games 2020 will be hosted by the Mensa 76 chapter in April 2020, with game applications being accepted in Autumn 2019.
Which of these games have you played? What game tops your 2019 list?

Ok, so….. I have not heard about any of those before… not one :S
Same, which is a bit of a surprise tbh. Were they not at any cons OTT covered?
Architects was definitely going to win something major this year. Gizmos coming in the mail soon, can’t wait to try it out. Planet seems great from reviews but I’m not big into tactile games as such and the others I haven’t heard of unfortunately.
Adore architects of the west kingdom, when I bought it I played it 8 times over 2 weeks. Super excited for paladins. Victorian masterminds is a bit of a surprise. I have heard good things but my friends you played it said it was a smaller/lighter game than the box suggests, lots of components upgraded to miniatures and the like which did not need to be.
