Berserk Fyreslayers Return To The Age Of Sigmar Battlefield Soon
April 8, 2019 by brennon
Games Workshop has given us a rundown of what is coming out as part of the Age Of Sigmar pre-orders this weekend. The Fyreslayers are going to be getting a boost as they get ready for battle.
The new Battletome is the focal point of this release. These tattooed and ur-gold infused warriors are getting a tweak to their rules as well as new options for the battlefield including themed forces. Updated Warcrolls are included within this tome as well as additional ways to run the various Lodges that are spread out across the Mortal Realms.
Magmic Power
One of the biggest additions to the Battletome is the option to bring Magmic Invocations to the tabletop. These work as Endless Spells in the game summoned into being by Zharrgrim Priests as a way of turning your enemies into slag.
The Magmic Battleforge (or Buba Fyreslayer's Poppin' Pizza Oven) is a new terrain piece as well. This works as a good terrain piece but it also has some in-game benefits for your own side, boosting your warriors to greater feats of strength.
I do like that we're getting more themed pieces of terrain that work for the various factions. It means that we're getting terrain which allows us to stretch out hobby muscles and work on something that develops alongside your army. Imagine a very cool magma covered landscape with the walls of a Fyreslayer citadel standing to one side.
Berserk Warriors
As well as the new terrain and invocations there is also the return of a miniature to look forward to. The Doomseeker from Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower is now available as a separate miniature.
If you're interested in perhaps playing some games of the Age Of Sigmar Roleplaying Game from Cubicle 7 then this is a perfect character to pick up. He matches well against the archetype that was revealed in a recent preview!
Ur-Gold Dice
As well as the miniature, the terrain and the new book you'll also get a chance to snag yourself some awesomely themed dice as well which are infused with ur-gold.
One hopes that this set will bring you plenty of luck on the battlefield. I do like the idea of bringing lots of cool accessories to the tabletop alongside your army which match its theme.
What do you think of the new set of releases for the Fyreslayers?

All hail the great pizza oven!
The spells and pizza oven are great resources for Chaos Dwarfs. 😉
Think this release needs more Gotrek – he’s the only slayer we all care about anyway. ?
Very true, and we know he’s in the Mortal Realms now. I haven’t listened to that story yet – would be good to know how things are for him now!
He’s grumpy as always, and he’s an old grognard, insisting he’s a dwarf not a druardin, and is disgusted by the mercenary nature of the Fyreslayers who will work for anyone if they get paid ur-gold. Oh, and his sidekick is now a Dark Elf.
What happened to Felix?
The End Times happened to Felix.
Gotrek starts off his AoS audio drama determined to find him and sets out to track Sigmar down and beat the location of Felix’s reincarnated soul out of him.
Oh, okay. I have to think really hard about if I want to get that stuff. I was out of the Gotrek & Felix books after William King quit, and I have no love left for the atrocious “fluff” around AoS. Maybe one day, just to have the complete series.
Eh, it’s worth it for Brian Blessed; plus Gotrek hates AoS too. ?
Brian Blessed AS THE VOICE OF GOTREKK!!!!!??!!!
Does the audio cd come with extra earplugs ? 😉
As this is one of the four AoS armies I collect I am really looking forward to this one. I didn’t really expect it to be out so quickly though
Fyreslayers Pizza oven looks brilliant.
I have never been huge fan of this faction for simple reason that having army of Slayers doesn’t visually work. Instead they work better as part of army rather than as they own army.
I was waiting eagerly for a book to come out for these guys. I have to say, until I read whats inside I’m a bit disappointed. The Spells are cool, but wheres all the new figures? Most of the other armies got some serious new toy. I feel a bit left out.
All great, but one thing that’s starting to irk me in Age of Sigmar is how every faction is getting a free (points-wise) piece of terrain that you’ll take to every game. I love army-themed terrain, don’t get me wrong, but it starts to really hurt my immersion when in every single battle, the Dwarfs have built a giant forge within 30′ of the Goblins’ giant shrine, or what-not. It’d make more sense if there were Attacker/Defender scenarios, or if these pieces of kit were a bit more maneuverable, like a forge on wheels or something… As is, it feels… Read more »
That definitely is a problem (from a narrative pov) in tournaments where you’d be a fool to not have that faction specific terrain.
However the Gloomspite Gitz faction book has scenarios where you don’t have your terrain piece as part of your army.
I kind of hope the other factions feature similar things, because it rarely makes sense to have both armies with such a big shiny piece of plastic as part of their deployment.
Do they? That’s good. I read through the entire Gitz book, but I don’t specifically remember the scenarios. That would be a neat addition. I think that the Age of Sigmar Battletomes actually show a lot more love and care than the 40k Codices at this point in time, including formations, narrative scenarios, path to glory, etc. Obviously in tournaments and the like, this won’t bother anybody. I’m just a stickler for that kind of thing, and I don’t like being harshly penalized for not wanting to include my big terrain kit on every single battlefield. I know it’s likely… Read more »
I agree 100% on the inherent wrongness of named characters, special terrain and (to a lesser extent) unique units showing up in every flocking list. I haven’t played in tournaments, so I don’t know how bad it is.
Checking the book I noticed there is only one ‘battleplan’. I thought there were more.
Page 70 : “An Unfortunate Location”
It is a siege scenario with the Gitz attacking an outpost.
They aren’t allowed to take the terrain, but that makes sense within this context.
