FFG Showcases New TX-225 Combat Tank For Star Wars: Legion
April 4, 2019 by cassn
The Galactic Empire has always recognized the ability of advanced weapons to sway the masses. Much of the time, these technological terrors can prove their point without firing a single shot; the sight of an AT-ST striding across a battlefield or the Death Star looming in the sky is often all it takes to bring local populations in line. It should be no surprise, then, that the same research programs that spawned these menacing weapons also produced the TX-225 GAVw Occupier Combat Assault Tank.
The Empire knows the power it possesses, and it's not afraid to demonstrate those forces in its weaponry. The TX-225 is a low profile, heavy armor vehicle with surprising maneuverability for its size. These qualities make it incredibly adaptable to a number of situations, from transportations to battle.
However, just because it is useful doesn't diminish from its strength, and the TX-225 has Forward Twin MK 2e/w/ Cannons and Lateral Quad MK 2 e/w Cannons which can be linked together in a single attack to deliver a devastating assault on enemies of the Empire!
Of course, the TX-225 has one flaw - it relies on a frontal attack to do the most damage. To counter this, the tank features a rifle pintle which allows tank commanders more options when planning attacks, customizing the rifle choice to the situation which suits it best. Surround the TX-225 with Stormtrooper defence on the sides to protect the flank of this incredibly vital vehicle.
The TX-225 is also the first Star Wars: Legion vehicle which is able to transport troops, so you can get your men into the centre of the battle quickly. Of course, loading and unloading any vehicle opens it to vulnerability, but with the ability to deploy troops directly into the TX-225 at the beginning of a battle, the benefits of this transporter far outweigh the risks!
You can get a closer look at all the benefits of the TX-225 GAVw Occupier Combat Assault Tank here.

That looks really good.
the imperial ute tank.
hmm…. how many can I fit into a standard 800 points game… two at most…. WE NEED BIGGER LISTS!
Hell yeah. But we still have a 3 month wait ( give or take a few days ) until i ( we ) can unleash it on the Rebel scum.
I’m really excited for this kit. it could be the first unit I would be tempted to buy more then one of. Maybe.
I foresee a couple of these in my Imperial Army, much as you ( might ) do @sundancer .Forces for both my armies are shaping up nicely, but Salute should fill in at least a couple of gaps i have in both forces.
I’m still missing The Director and his Black entourage. But my FLGS is waiting for his order too sooo…. I’m patient.
800 is just a number for tournament play, isn’t it?
No, it’s the recommended point value for a standard match. See Rules Reference V1.3 page 5 “Points”. “Each army consists of units, upgrade cards, and command cards. Units and upgrades both cost points, and the total point value of everything in an army cannot exceed 800.” (That being said, it’s your game so do what you want but you may experience balancing problems given that some units cost 200+ points)
Well there are the Grand Army rules variant.
of course you can always go bigger but at my current speed of gaming anything bigger then 800 points would be a day of play 😉

why has a grav tank got tracks?
Grav Tank?
Gav, not grav.
Ground Assault Vehicle. No grav 😉
A doubt the war is affecting imperial production on grab units for everything around the empire?
I have been waiting for this since the original ruleset was released and they mentioned they would have rules for tanks. Very happy to see this. We are making full use of a 6 x 4 table at this point. Even the most hard core of gaming friends is calling for truce when it comes to all the options. Glad I sold off a whole bunch of game to make more room.
6×4? I did that once (by accident) and it was awefull because it took sooooo long to get into a fight… :S
I’ve got one eye on a nice 6×3 for bigger games,Salute should cover that nicely. What are people using for smaller games ? 3×3 or 4×4 ?
3×3 usually. That’s the same size for the introductory game and some of the “Operations” from FFG
Cheers @sundancer .
This looks awesome!
