Explore Futuristic Manchester With Vurt The RPG
March 22, 2019 by brennon
Modiphius has added a new role-playing game onto their webstore. Vurt: The Tabletop Roleplaying Game takes you to futuristic Manchester and a wild alternate reality.
Here's some more of the background on Vurt...
"Vurt: The Tabletop Roleplaying Game is an RPG based on the visionary and hallucinatory science fiction of author Jeff Noon (who won the Arthur C. Clarke Award for Vurt in 1994). Amid the glass-strewn streets of the lethal and anarchic Manchester England of the near future, players ingest slender Vurt feathers to travel to parallel worlds as vivid, unique, and unpredictable as our wildest dreams. But they’re no mere fantasies. These worlds - and all the wonders and horrors they contain - are as a real, and every bit as dangerous, as the one you were born in."
This sounds fascinating, even after those few sentences. I like the idea of exploring this Sci-Fi world which has a big dose of Fantasy and Weird thrown into the mix as well. The Core Book which is available to snap up is packed with loads of new options, adventures, a bestiary for both the real world and the vurt world and of course pre-generated characters to get you started.
It's pretty awesome to have the focus be on a UK city rather than an American one!
Are you tempted by Vurt?

This sounds like a interesting if strange a game I think I’ll look for the book if its out.
Jeff Noon’s Vurt was a mind-bending super-dark rollercoaster acid trip of a book. Hats off to anyone trying to turn that into a RPG.
It has to be worth picking up!
Modiphius really do know where the good feathers are.
Gawds I loved Vurt when I was younger. I ought to dig it out for a read with older eyes.
So how is this different from a Shadowrun setting? It looks like it has super science, sorcery, cityscapes, non-human and what not. If its basically the same as Shadowrun but runs better. For dear god Shadowrun is a needlessly complex game system. Luckily you don’t need most of it but it can get in the way of trying to do something…
