Time To Gather The MERCS For A New Recon Mission
February 26, 2014 by brennon
The folks behind MERCS and Myth have been discussing the change to Megacon Games and with that a new Kickstarter from within the world of MERCS called Recon. Check out the teasers below...
First up is this pair of box shots showing these duel sets where two teams look to be going at it. The one on the left shows the CCC and the yet-to-be-released EU. On the right we have the Kemvar versus the Sefadu.
As you can see it looks like Megacon have got MERCS fever and will be creating some interesting scenario based gameplay for your MERCS models as well as making them available as two teams for playing the full game that we absolutely love.
I have been loving the look of the EU ever since we first saw the concept art and one possibility is that these could end up being plastic miniatures!
The community has been discussing this over on the forums here so go and join in!
What do you think?

While I find the idea *of* a MERCS board game very appealing, the only thing that has peaked my interest – visually – has been the box art. Perhaps we were spoiled by the Fable-esque tiles in MYTH but every time I look at the Recon board, I find myself wondering what happened to the boot, the car and the little dog.
From what I’ve heard it is a co-operative game, not competitive. At the start of the game your 5 man MERCS team, faces off against civvies and security guards. The game escalates over time, and you end up facing off against another MERCS team. The post on the forum suggests a customizable board, destructible scenery, and fast-play.
No word yet on minis, whether plastic or metal. I’m hoping plastic, plus can’t wait for EU Inc. to make an appearance.
There’s also a competitive dice game coming our way soon, MERCS: Conflict.
Subject to Myth being as good as I hope it is and the final board looking better than that photo, I’d be very interested in a Mercs Kickstarter.
Hi,
The right box looks like it is pitching KemVar vs Keizai Waza, not sefadu.
Needles to say: I am pretty excited about the prospect of a MERCS board game 🙂
Best regards

This should hit KS in March, but Megacon Games have said they want to finish MYTH first before embarking on another project.
I think the board is only a prototype so should look better when released.
I love the aesthetic for MERCs models but man..they are extremely fiddly to put together..
Just checked the comments from Megacon Games on the MYTH KS. Mark your calendars for next Wednesday as a possible launch date!!!
