Winged Hussars Charge Down Upon El Kraken’s Kickstarter
March 14, 2019 by dracs
El Kraken Released have taken to Kickstarter to fund the forces of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, including models for the iconic Winged Hussars.
The Winged Hussars are perhaps among the most famous European cavalry of the sixteen and seventeen hundreds.
An elite heavy cavalry, they are instantly recognisable and strike a romantic figure on the battle field, something carried over to El Kraken's sculpts.
Of course, there was more to the Polish-Lithuanian military than the hussars, and El Kraken have a selection of other miniature sets to choose from on the kickstarter.
The miniatures are 28mm scale white metal, which should hopefully carry the detail of the sculpts well.
The idea of fielding an entire army like this is a very appealing one and I hope we get to see a fully painted force at some point.
Are you interested in the history of this army? Is there a particular battle you would like to recreate?
Those look really good.
Tempted by some of the swordsmen they did from the previous KS that you can get on this one.
ooh fabulous figures.
I’d wonder about the infantry ranking up, but they’re utterly fantastic. I don’t recall seeing dismounted winged lancers before either.
Glorious minis!
don’t worry in KoW you use the footprint and so you can put them whatever way fits 😀
Very nice and it looks like Marco d’Aviano is one of the stretch goals which is great to see.
The minis on foot would be Perfect for Osprey’s “Pikeman’s Lament” where you are the leader of a Mercenary Company.
I’ll have to check and see if Impetus has rules for the Holy League v Ottomans because that would look stunning on the table.
Of course their most famous Battle was Vienna and Sabaton has a song about it.

Having delved deep into Kislev when I played both Warhammer and Warmaster these look very, very tempting.
Heh. My first thoughts too. On seeing this I was thinking ‘can I justify a Kislev faction?’ Probably not right now but it’s nice to know such glorious looking minis will be available for later on down the track.
I’m in for a Euro and, depending on what happens with Brexit (and, therefore, shipping) I’ll be down for the Hajduks pack for a Kislevite Mordheim band.
