@evilstu : I got the ‘Erewhon’ book too. Elves are in, but like any other of the examples they are a ‘generic/standard fantasy ‘ example of their type.
The best thing is that each list sort of explains the kind of stereotype the lists fit.
It really matches the ‘Nowhere’ theme as the setting is whatever you want it to be, which makes me think you could use it to run skirmish warband scale Lord of the Rings scenarios if you wanted to. Treemen & Dryads are part of the monster section.
Did you get the miniature as well ?
The gnolls are probably the first time I’ve heard of that race outside of the D&D monsterbook.
IIRC there is a plastic gnoll kit for the Frostgrave.
The book itself kind of reminds me of Rogue Trader, which isn’t weird when you consider that it is by Rick Priestley. That also had that ‘DIY fiction’ kind of feel to it when it started. The lists themselves also remind me of the early Warhammer fantasy army book.
I hope Warlord do follow up on the rules with a scenario/campaign booklet or something to give it a bit more content.
