Painting Large Scale Miniatures
Up-Date on the 1805 Royal Marine
I’ve finally made a start on the 70mm 1805 Royal Marine, its been sat on the painting desk waiting for me to start slapping paint on it. I’ve been putting it off for a while simply because it’s a scale I’ve not jumped up to, the largest to date has been 54mm.
So I’ve started this model and there has been some issues for me, I’ve noticed that I need to blend more so that brush strokes are not noticeable unless you’re looking for them. So far I’ve just painted the base colours, and I’ve realised I’m going to need to paint more steps going from shade to highlights.
My aim for the base is to place him on a beach, with sea lapping around his ankles, which will require me to do a water resin effect base.
