@torros its a low figure count, between 5 and 30 per side, character led, themed and scenario drive game

As long as the concept isn’t copyrighted, fine. If I remember correctly the whole thing was thought up by a few gamers, and developed by members of the forum and Solway Crafts.

Always thought of it as an “open source” game, so would like to see anything (other than the sculpts and rule mechanics) locked down by anyone person/company. The background/fluff is semi historical and fictional, so the fictional part was what was thought up by the community members.

The idea for the new set of VBCW rules involves a low figure count, between 10 to 50 figures per side, character/leader led, themed forces in a scenario drive game. This is to sit alongside the range of books and rules out there at the moment and not replace them in anyway. We is not looking at changing the background and hopefully will increase the appeal of VBCW and add it to a larger platform.

The rules or not like Went the Day well or Brigade 38 or in fact any skirmish out there but rather based on more abstracted. The rule mechanics are based of grouped units rather than individuals but the Characters/Heroes/Leader buff and influence the units, think of is like a movie or comic strip with main and minor characters.

I hope you like the idea and are as excited by it as I am but please let me know what you think.

I seem to be accumulating vbcw minus at quite a rate. It’d be nice to play with them now and then. Yes I’d be interested ??

Thankfully its history, 1938, Edward VIII and the Abdication Crisis 1936. Basically what if King Edward VIII didnt abdicate and the civil war that followed.

The interwar period was very interesting with it politics, after WW1 there was a lot of “organisations” that sprung up dissatisfied with the status quo. For an idea of the “official” factions….

Of course half the charm of playing in this period is your own imagination. I think I was the one that came up with the idea of “Ironclad Narrowboats” as a thing. Others came up with a militant Women’s Institute (fighting for equal rights), Cricket Teams annoyed at the war interrupting play etc (ie it’s all a bit tongue in cheek).

I’d be very interested in a skirmish game for this period especially if it can expand into something bigger.  I find it far easier to get friends to buy into a new era when its at that level. If they like it things soon escalate as the collector gene kicks in.

Love the stuff and books on the Solway website and the “history” and fluff is believable but fun which is why I love it so much.

Maybe @phaidknott we might like this.

So we’ve having a bit of a discussion about VBCW on the Pendraken forum and getting interested. Are these new rules to replace Went the Day well?

Far from it @torros as I love Went the Day well and have a ton of addition rules and scenarios for them that I must get sorted and published. Got some interesting rules about sub plots and characters. The last i want to do is change or replace the settings and books out there but rather support them with this product.

These rules are a stand alone set that rather than recreate the wheel and publish yet another set of platoon level rules is rather a more abstracted set that is designed around a low figure count and a small table.
