SITREP Podcast: The Band Is Back Together!
February 8, 2019 by stvitusdancern
We are back and in full force! Everyone is at the command table and we have a special guest! Dawn from OnTableTop/Beasts of War joins us as we try to convince her to try historical/modern wargaming.
In today's episode, we talk about what we have been working on over the past couple of weeks as well as what we are planning on for the future. Then we look into the hottest releases for modern wargaming. Jim gives us a rundown on his new show Ops Center and what we can expect from it. So, far it has received great attention.
Jim takes us on a discussion of how we might repurpose our wargame systems and make them into another game we might want to play. Lastly, we get Dawn into the conversation and see how we might draw in new players to our world.
Also a quick reminder to our winners:
- Chris Moody - Facebook 100 - Skirmish Sangin Rule Book
- David Maxwell - Youtube 100 - Games and Gears Paint Brush Set
CONGRATS!
Last but Not Least we want to thank our Patreon Sponsors!
- Lawrence Townsend
and Our New Producer:

A big Thank you to you all!

It was great to have the whole team together, along with our special guest! Epic episode! Thanks as always to OTT/BoW for hosting it in their site!
You Beat me Jim 🙂
I think I actually saw a JTLV on the street yesterday. There a a few bases nearby. It was in traffic and I was driving so couldn’t stop for a close look. But it looked damned similar.
technical’s the A team military prototypes
in war gaming its always a rough unit/general or country that starts a disturbance in films so ?
Some of the lighter technicals, sure, @zorg , with light armor plating and maybe a belt-fed GPMG on the back somehow. Not sure if I ever saw twin 23mm autocannons on the A-Team like we do on a “ZSU-Toyota.” I’m sure if B.A. Baracus could get his hands on some, though, he’d figure out a way to mount them! 😀
Have you seen some of the 4×4’s out now you probably get a 5inch turret on them ?
That seems to be how tech is going these days. The guns are getting smaller, the trucks are getting bigger. 😀
I enjoyed this latest episode of SITREP Podcast.
In fact, I’ve been burning through all the past episodes of SITREP. (playing them through Youtube)
I have to say to the team of SITREP, “I’m getting used to having these podcasts in my gaming catalog of stuff to listen to. They get me in the frame of mind thinking about scenarios to play out”.
I sure hope that they keep coming at a regular pace! (no pressure ) 🙂
Glad you’re enjoying the podcast Dennis, if you want us to talk about anything specific please lets us know here, on facebook or twitter.
Indeed, @templar007 – we’re working on one Podcast every two weeks, and on the weeks between an episode of the Ops Center with yours truly. Meanwhile, more Twitch-based content will be going up for other Sitrep content like Close Quarters Battle (battle reports) Present Arms (hobby streams) and Breach & Clear (unboxings and product reviews). Meanwhile, @grimwolfuk is also going to be starting his GhostOps online RPG soon, keep an eye out for that!
I love the idea of repurposing. Not only is a way to save money and reuse something we know we like, but is adds another layer of creativity and “hobbying” to wargaming.
Whatever it takes to keep dice hitting the table, and keep people talking and learning about the “real world” aspect to the hobby.
We’re in a golden age for modern wargamers. Not only is there an abundance of terrain and miniatures readily available (if not inexpensive), but we can use take that material and use it in a number of different games.
Agree 100%! 😀
