Hey All, sorry late to the party this week. @mage a double-header? Thanks for hosting again 🙂
Woke up yesterday with a headache but headed out early to Cancon anyhow. It was really busy (I need to remember next year to go on day 3 when it is less crowded and you can get to chat to the manufacturers and game developers…). Saw many awesome gaming tables (sorry too crowded for photos 🙁 ) and many innovative terrain pieces and minis for sale. Could have easily spent an absolute fortune 🙂 By midday it was about 40 degrees and I was in need of lunch and something for the head so wandered off early in the afternoon, but not before getting to catch up briefly with community member and all round nice guy @rayzryr who was in town with his daughter to check out Cancon – just sorry that the day happened to be so hot for them, hopefully a good time was had nonetheless. My purchases for the day were mainly hobby consumables that I had planned in advance (primer etc that is difficult to get shipped through the post, plus particular paint colours I was out of) but I did pick up some minis from ex manus studios – a few of what are called ‘Goblin Plague Striders’ – think goblin on stilts wearing a plague doctor mask and you’re on target. Ridiculously characterful, I have no idea what I’m going to use them for but had to stop myself from buying a dozen when I saw them. Lucky I got in early as it looks like he sold out of stock partway through day 1:
Yesterday afternoon rather than drop in here and post a pledge I figured I’d just actually get the pledge I have been trying to do for the last few weeks done ( I gave up waiting for cooler weather and just holed up in the house with the aircon on and accepted the fact that all the paint was going to go thick due to dry air…). So finally managed to get the 12 Bret knights that I have been attacking for a couple of months painted up.
But wait, there’s more! I even bit the bullet and put on all the decals (so many decals…)
Will brush on some AP varnish when it’s less humid and then base and matt varnish. Keen to move onto some other stuff.
With hobby supplies restocked I was able to prime another few units for my Middenheim ‘built from storage’ army, and kitbashed my way to a unit of 25 halberdiers. they all look a little same-y so if/when I get my 3d printer working again I’ll print out some more torsos and use some of the old 5th ed arms and push the unit up to 40 strong just to have a bit of variety in poses.
Plan from here on out is to cycle through either the Knights of the White Wolf or Middenheim infantry in small batches (maybe 6 cav or 10-12 infantry at a go) as the colour schemes are different enough that I shouldn’t get too bored. Well at least that’s the theory…
Replies etc to follow 🙂
