OK, looking like a week of 40+ degree days ahead so don’t know that I’m going to be hitting up too much hobby prep. Glad I got a start made over the last week or 2, might be able to focus on getting some painting done instead (If I can keep the wet palette from drying… ).
Bit of clean air tonight so can finally get back and catch up on the thread (apologies for my absence…).
@a27cromwell sounds like a reasonable plan for the year ahead. I think you are in pretty good company – most of the people on the forums seem to cycle through various things at any given time. The ones who can stay focused on a discrete body of work and finish things regularly seem to be notable by exception (at least in my mind). Not that that’s any better or worse, it’s just a different approach. I imagine that the haynes books would be quite a valuable resource given the amount of conversion work you do, sounds like a worthy investment. Yes very much looking forward to seeing how the current Vikings story arc turns out. I’ll confess it was a pretty slow series for the first half of season 1. Season 2 I found to be more engaging, and by the time season 3 rolled around I was pretty much addicted 🙂 30 caramel crowns (being this weeks points currency) for question responses.
@horati0nosebl0wer maybe it would help to alternate between white and pink marshmallows on the hedgehogs as well? That way we could hide them in the cotton candy/fairly floss and nobody would be the wiser?… Ah the thread that @lawnor runs is a really good way to get stuff done. I really respect @lawnor ‘s approach with regard to mapping everything out and keeping track of progress. I jumped in on a similar pledge thread a couple of years ago – ended up churning out this liot in 12 months:
It was pretty insane productivity wise (3 chaos armies, 3 frostgrave warbands, core of a Bret and an undead army, Robotech stuff, misc D&D minis and a shed-load of terrain assembled, painted or scratchbuilt). catch was by the time I his October or so the stuff I wanted to do wasn’t part of the pledge I had made close to a year ago by then so it felt like more of a grind than fun getting it finished. Still, happy I did do it as I now have all that stuff to use in games 🙂 Bust painting could be really interesting. Ah, moving is the worst (ok, there are heaps of worse things I’ll grant you but moving isn’t fun…). Hope you can avoid moving if possible 🙂 Hrm, sensing a beverage related mishap theme here – glad I use old coffee jars to rinse out my brushes. And before anyone asks, while I have considered it on several occasions, I am yet to just add hot water to the coffee jar and drink straight from there, so no potential issues with brush rinsing (yet…). Heh, you know better than to plan for the arrival of KS’s right? They congregate somewhere in the delivery queue and then all arrive at the same time, hoping to overwhelm you using shock and awe tactics 🙂 Heh, kept waiting for the drops in that first tune you posted but they just didn’t kick in… 😛 Well and truly redeemed yourself with the last tune though 🙂 60 caramel crowns for question responses, progress pics, tunes and responses to others..
@sundancer 10 bonus caramel crowns out of the box for Die Krupps! Coffee and coffee flavoured cola – if I didn’t know better I’d suspect a pattern 😉 Glad your favourite cold beverage isn’t coffee that has gone cold – that keeps happening to me. ha, looking forward to more pew pew and lights nonsense if you get the chance – Oooh – just imagined a landing pad with blinking LED’s for legion 🙂 30 caramel crowns for responses, 10 more for tunes. 50 total.
@woldenspoons Hope the pathfinding (that’s a legitimate verb, right?…) goes well for you 🙂 An elegant solution to the brush-rinsing in beverage conundrum. My eyes still hurt from the first Green lantern film. Still, at least it gave us a few more one-liners in deadpool. Just got around to watching justice League last night. Admittedly had low expectations given what I’d heard, but still found it to be an entertaining, if somewhat cheesy, take on the universe. 30 caramel crowns for responses.
@biggabum pictures or it didn’t kraken 😉 Sorry, I’ll stop (that’s a lie, we both know I won’t…). Hope you got the chance to get a game in. Can’t say I fault Matty with regard to hot chocolate – if you can, why not? I try to avoid sugar and dairy so I’m on black coffee for fun and profit. or at least for faster incoherency that people hopefully mistake for productivity if i flail around quickly enough… Had forgotten about the last Avengers film. being familiar with the story arc in the comics I pretty much took the end of Infinity War as closure rather tan a to be continued… Actually now that you mention it, I think Captain Marvel is out in a couple of months too – that should be fun 🙂 30 caramel crowns for responses.
@jodain heh i did the same with new years resolutions about 35 years ago – has worked well so far 😉 legion seems to be a worthy target as far as focus for the year is concerned though – you just know Fantasy Flight are going to keep rolling stuff out (or hopefully one day, walking stuff out…). Hrm, awkward with regard to the wine tasting – I guess you could have just sniffed it, swirled the glass a little and talked about the ‘bouquet’ for a bit?… As a friend of mine once quipped with regard to fancy wine tasting, ‘Distinct overtones of grape’. 🙂 Best of luck with the wookies! 30 caramel crowns for question responses.
@dawfydd solid plan for 2019. And that sounds like a lot of local gaming tables, great news! yeah, don’t know that the Horus heresy is ever going to technically end – I imagine once they get to Terra thee will be another series on the approach to the imperial palace… Still, as long as the books are engaging, keep ’em coming 🙂 hrm, you have reminded me that I backed the Infinity RPG that Modiphius did, I really must check and see where they are up to and if I can d/l all the books yet (I prefer to wait until everything is up before I download otherwise I tend to miss updates etc. yeah, i’m strange like that 😛 ). Stripping looks fantastic. And yes, appreciate your perspective on the old Catachan minis – you can’t even look at one without hearing ‘If it bleeds, we can kill it…’ 🙂 deathwatch look great! Very intimidating weight to them as a squad. 30 caramel crowns for post responses, 30 more for hobby progress pics. 60 total.
@mage great hobby progress! The political post made me giggle but the Castro one nearly made me fall off my chair! 20 caramel crowns
