New Chaos Space Marine Helbrutes On The Way
February 21, 2014 by brennon
According to a post on Bell of Lost Souls the next issue of Warhammer: Visions features some images of a new plastic Helbrute kit from Games Workshop. You can check out some of the variants for it below...
It seems to have the right amount of weapon options to be useful on the battlefield and comes with a variety of head options to. It looks like the Helbrute we had access to from within the Dark Vengeance box and also keeps that Dreadnought look from it's Space Marine past.
What this does bring up is why now? Well the answer could be in the rumours about a new boxed set on the way for the game in a Warhammer 40k 6.5 edition release. Whether there is any truth to that I don't know but if it did come out then gamers would no longer have access to the Helbrute as a model. Games Workshop are therefore releasing it as a single kit to keep it a viable option.
I think I'm going to be buying a few of these to stamp over the battlefield. I do love my big constructs.
What do you think?

Nice model, only said part being that the current Walker rules are kind of a let down.
A lot of people look oddly at me when I bring my Helbrute to the table, but I love the idea of Dreadnoughts and bring them anyway! 😀
BoW Ben
Actually Ben, they’re not looking at you oddly because you bring a Hellbrute
This. 1000 times this. Play with the cool models!
I always wonder why people like playing flavour of the month models/lists. For me the fun is in taking the underdog to the table and winning 🙂
haha that makes two of us. 🙂
Hmmm, I quite like these. In the first picture I thought the legs especially made it look a bit like an old 80s/90s He-Man action figure but I think that’s just the angle. They look pretty cool to me – just the right balance of dreadnought and chaotic taint.
Got to admit, I’m consistently liking a proportion of GW models shown in the last few weeks than I have in quite a while. I still can’t afford them but I do like what I’m seeing!
This are breathtaking monsters, my only gripe is this year Warhammer players got the abort*on that is the Dwarf Gabage Copter, and some pretty average looking minis, whilst 40K players get these BADASS pieces of pure glory.
Not much use in the game, but they make sense fluff wise, a lot of Chaos Dreadnaughts are insane.
about bloody(khorne) time
Hmmm, not sure about these… I love the DV Helbrute for its really cool and dynamic pose but I feel like these ones look more static than the starter box version and these are made from a multipart kit! I’d have liked to have seen a better stance for them and also a different aesthetic option for the front of the sarcophagus- both of these fronts are, stylistically, pretty similar to the DV Helbrute with their recessed heads and horns around the face. I like them all for the most part (except the Nurgle Helbrute’s powerfists which look quite flat… Read more »
I really like these models, I think they are great 🙂
Will be getting three 🙂
Sooo, the helbrute is interesting. No longer a dreadnought, and the new models have muscles and are obviously daemonically possessed, but unlike the other “dark mechanicum” stuff which made up the last release, the helbrute is not daemonic, and doesn’t have IWND. Its still limited to “imperial” weapons (ie no hades autcannon option), but now they can’t take any vehicle upgrades at all :/ And the crazy rule is worded really badly. If you roll a 1 on the d3 when you’ve taken damage in melee, then you are immobilized, so they can hit your rear armour and you get… Read more »
That Khorne hellbrute is going to fit nicely into my World Eaters army and complement my Forge world World Eaters Dreadnought. They are going to make a lovely couple.
Now if only we had a Codex that was slightly more inspiring… With say Legion rules, a handful more daemon weapons, Fleshmetal as an optional upgrade for our Lords(like Speesh Mahreens can take Artificer Armour)… Maybe some slightly more inspired Warlord traits…
1 more hellbrute and my son will have his trifecta. He has two from DV set and looking for a third. He’ll be way excited to see this. He says these are much cooler than dreadnoughts and I think I agree just on looks.
