Army of Middenheim

A quick search (Ok, a long and involved search…) of many boxes yielded an assortment of sprues, blisters and bits, plus some assembled models in various states of disrepair.

Army of Middenheim

Sorting that mess out it became obvious I had in my travels procured quite a few Cult of Ulric character models. Given I also had a large number of cavalry it seemed logical to do this force up as an Army of Middenheim as I could incorporate the Cult of Ulric int the force seamlessly. Plus it would make a nice counterpoint to the Talabecland theme of my main Empire army. A day clipping, cleaning and assembling and I had the following:

A big block of spearmen with command group and warrior priest - banner to be glued on later so that I can paint it more easily...A big block of spearmen with command group and warrior priest - banner to be glued on later so that I can paint it more easily...
A cannon with crew, plus a squad of handgunners. One of the handguns had snapped off so I modified with some old parts to convert into a blunderbuss which seems oddly appropriate... barrels were too small for my pin vice so had to drill out with a sharp hobby blade.A cannon with crew, plus a squad of handgunners. Plus some other random foot troops and the beginnings of a plastic mounted general and this was the horde at the end of the first day. I love this & will be following avidly. I’ve been doing a similar this here: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/fantasy-wargames-2/ and so hoping this will kick start my own Empire force!

@evilstu not sure how i managed to miss this project until now! Love the Middenheim flavour you are going for, its how i am painting up my army as well. So much background and fun to be had, still sad they dumped the Warhammer world.

Love these old Empire minis. They were my force back in the day. Inspires me to get up into the parents attic and see what treasures I still have up there.

Thanks for this project – will be keeping a close eye on it!
