About the Project

I decided that Age of Sigmar's Kharadron Overlords was something that I'd like to try out. I'm a big fan of Dwarves and creating atmospheric stories in my painting so let's see what I can make of these.

After spending about a month looking at the model and fixing up the base, I thought perhaps going for a gritty olive with bronze metallics it may be best fitted.

What do you think?

Detailing the base

Drybrushing the base, adding some flock, random assortment of rockets and a few Twilight Miniatures thrown in there for good measure. Hardcore Gamers, you gettin’ mad yet?

Explosive experiments

I saw this instagram post where a guy had created small X-Wings explode using cotton wool and tungsten LEDs. Fluffing up some cotton balls and lightly spraying the outside with a Black matt you can easily create this effect. Trust me, looks better in person once you have the LED inside the cotton.

After some bullying with the model, I managed to equip it with some dodgy Poundland LED lights that I harassed from a cheap Halloween toy.

The base is a lot larger than what should be for the Grunstock Gunhauler however I’m not in the business of caring for tournament quality, instead I’m having some fun with expanding foam.

I started by making a large sized cookie from the expanding foam, carving out large rock shapes and sticking them together. My inspiration was partly from watching the Lion King during that time and re-creating the King’s platform.

After sticking it all together, I pasted in some tile filler into the gaps and base coated with some cheap acryllic.
