FFG’s Royal Guard Protect Your Star Wars: Legion VIPs
November 26, 2018 by brennon
Fantasy Flight Games has been showing off another preview for the world of Star Wars: Legion. Here we have a peek at the Royal Guard who are ready to actually get stuck in rather than just stand in the background of a film!
As you might imagine, the Royal Guard are there to protect your characters whilst also getting stuck into combat themselves. They are able to bring two black dice into combat with them for their blasters and then throw a red dice into the mix when it comes to close combat...ouch!
Here's a better look at the stat cards for them so you can get a peek at how they might work in your force.
Guardian and Disciplined are good keywords for the unit to have and really feed into that role of them being protectors. Charge also allows them to really get stuck in and start carving apart the enemy before they really get a chance to react.
What do you think?

I have these on the way. Hopefully they’ll show up later this week.
So many possibilities for how to use them in senarios.
Got mine. You will need green stuff to fill the gaps and hot water treatment to fix bendy weapons.
I use Vallejo plastic putty. It’s much easier to apply and it’s water diluteable. So you just brush it on. https://acrylicosvallejo.com/en/producto/hobby/auxiliaries-model/plastic-putty-70401/

Got mine since… a few days… aaaaaaand I’m missing a part *sigh*
Darn 🙁 At least you now have a use for the ‘proof of purchase’ token 🙂
Didn’t needed that… took a picture of “pre assembled” models and the two parts that don’t fit. Now the waiting game begins.
that’s what you get for joining the Dark side 😉
You filthy rebel scum! 😉
Nice never played the game.
Guys, I’m a little wary of this game for a couple of reasons: 1. Fantasy Flight and their inherent inability to support consistent release schedules and inventory 2. Some of the units they’re releasing don’t really seem to be ones you’d actually see frequently on the battlefield. (Looking at you, Emperor). I know this is subjective but it just feels a little weird. They have to work within the confines of their license, but still… What are your experiences in playing it and how do you see the above being handled? For my group, x-wing sort of organically devolved into… Read more »
FFG suffer from their own success. They can’t keep stock in every shop because they don’t control their own manufacturing. There are many companies that don’t control their own manufacturing in house so that’s not a biggy for me. With regards to units on the battlefield, its star wars, of course the named characters would be obvious choices to include, . If we think about it everyone expects Darth Vader to be on the battlefield kicking arse and taking names but we never actually saw him do any of that until Rogue One, and even then, he only killed 8… Read more »
