3D models and Prints of Ships for Darkstar
Iron Duke Class
Ended up with more time then expected after work the last two nights and ended up burning it all on making the Iron Duke, 3D print will be appended ASAP it going to take 3 hours to print, also testing out the embedded recorder in the design software

3D Print
3D print completed. Took a little over 3 hours with my cheapo 3D printer, results are the best so far I still may go back and adjust things mostly the thought of moving the engine pods closer together which I may just leave to another ship that is similar in design or a refit if one exists in the lore already. Also as a first managed to get C 89 embossed onto the side of the ship which turned out really well. the model has space to have 3 digits for the number so unique ships can be made without have to hand paint/mask/decal in some ship markings.
Awesome! Definitely a new take on the design! 😀 😀 😀
Here’s the Iron Duke Class as originally envisioned.
The write-up and background for the class:

I love those designs in the project. there are so many thin parts involved that would not survive 3D printing at least with my printer unless I made it massive. I feel the model I have made is already a little on the large side at just over 2″. I will need to read over that background on this though again.
No worries at all, @bloodstrike – I think that Iron Duke class drawing is from the very first post on the Darkstar project, and that’s a looooooong way down on the scroll bar. 😀 (Your mouse wheel will be smoking by the time you reach it). I just thought it was great how different peoples’ ideas could be. I mean mine are … really just “fancied up” adaptations of historical designs. Pretty or not, they’re honestly not very imaginative.
going to redesign this a little after staring at my model last night, i really want those WW2 era looking gun batteries. also realized mine cant do a broadside unless it rotates 90 degrees onto its side
