Ascend To Asgard In Viking Game Valda

In Asgard, realm of the gods, a rivalry between Thor and Loki was to have big consequences. Loki, the trickster god, framed Thor in a moment of distraction causing the hammer of Thor to fall on Tyr. Tyr, who was guarding Yggdrasil, the tree connecting the worlds. Knocked out for a moment, Tyr left Yggdrasil unguarded - an opportunity for Viking morals to climb the tree and become gods.
Valda is a strategic worker placement game where competing Viking chieftains aim to ascend to divinity. Players gather resources, build temples, and gather followers in an attempt to climb Yggdrasil and become immortal!
Of course, you are not alone in your quest for divinity, and other chieftains (players) can attack you to hinder your progress. Utilize shields and resources wisely to defend yourself from attack while still furthering your claim to a seat at Asgard's table.
On their turn, players roll dice to determine their resources, then scavenge and explore other worlds through drafting and playing cards. Chieftans may then build temples to entice the favour of the gods and enact special divine abilities, depending on which god they worship.
Through playing cards, utilizing divine intervention, and fending off the competition, you will gain followers who will worship you as the immortal being you wish to be. When the game ends, the brave warrior with the most followers may ascend the branches of Yggdrasil and sit at Asgard's table!
Valda is a really beautiful worker placement game with stunning artwork from Mateuz Mizak (Dead Man's Doubloons). There's also a pledge option which includes a pretty epic burnt wooden box, which I have to admit, may just tempt me to back the game.
Valda has already exceeded its original funding target, and there are a few interesting stretch goals being unlocked as well. So if you believe you have what it takes to sit at Odin's side, you can back the project here.
