Hey gang,
I am looking for 1920s era approrpriate Chulhu models. Now, I am a little picky. I find certain historical models, as well as a lot of ones currently made, to be horrible sculpts. Dated, badly executed, fuggly, dis-proportioned affairs. So do not post if those are the only ones you can think of, please and thank you 😉
Thanks in advance!
November 12, 2018 at 7:28 pm #1300660so this is interesting as I was thinking about this the other day, not for RPG because they need no models, but something @lloyd said to me sparked an interest this is what I came up with the other day
https://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/index.php
plenty of minis there from Adventurers to Gangsters to polar expeditions everything screams CoC.
Off to Darkest Africa, then check out
or the 19th Century for various explorers
Footsore, check out the IRA and civilians from their Inter War Period
https://pulpfigures.com/ has everything you need from cultists to detectives
while 7TV http://www.crooked-dice.co.uk/wp/product-category/miniatures/ will give you
some excellent minis that may fill a void (filling voids may bring on the destruction of humanity by a nebulous un-nameable horror from beyond the stars)
Hope that helps son
November 12, 2018 at 7:32 pm #1300661Hmm that’s going to be tricky if you don’t like the older style or proportion of stuff like RAFM (the official line) or Bob Murch’s Pulp line
You may be able to cherry pick some of the stuff from Achtung Cthulhu although most of them are military rather than civilian https://www.modiphius.net/collections/miniatures
Their are some in the Statuesque minis line that will work http://www.statuesqueminiatures.co.uk/c/4513057/1/pulp.html including some excellent asylum staff and inmates
worth a look at crooked dice’s 7TV stuff, well sculpted but the proportions might not be ideal for you http://www.crooked-dice.co.uk/wp/product-category/miniatures/
Maybe footsore too, although again I suspect the style may not be right https://footsoreminiatures.co.uk/collections/inter-war-period-1918-1939
worth a browse through the frothers pulp era roundup although I suspect you won’t like they style of most of them http://wk.frothersunite.com/sc/pulp/Pulpsc.htm
November 12, 2018 at 7:44 pm #1300667@mage there were a bunch released as part of Reaper’s Bones 3 KS – these should now be filtering through to being available on their webstore
November 12, 2018 at 7:55 pm #1300668Are you mostly looking for Investigators or also the monsters and cultists?
And are you UK? Europe? North America? elsewhere? – Josh
November 12, 2018 at 8:09 pm #1300689they might be the wrong scale (not sure if you prefer 25mm, 28mm, 30mm, or 32mm)… but Mythos by Paranoid Miniatures literally is a Lovecraft based miniatures game with 4 (maybe 5?) factions… not a lot of variety, the models are all resin and therefore not cheap, but the are very well proportioned and there are some amazing monsters and villains…
https://www.paranoid-miniatures.com/
I have a box or two of these that I’m just needing to get back to assembling and painting up that I’m saving for use in RPGs…
Sadly, I’m not sure there is more in the pipeline for development as I don’t know that the game took off after KS fulfillment…
** EDIT – they actually are headed back to KS in January with it looks like 3 more factions? Wendigo, another sorcerer type faction, and some winged insect like creatures at least… so might be worth watching… **
November 12, 2018 at 8:25 pm #1300705Artisan designs have some figures that might suit as well in their thrilling tales range
November 13, 2018 at 12:19 am #1300840Lots of good recommendations guys, thanks. I have a lot to go over here.
Also, for whomever asked, I am based in Ireland.
Thanks again!
November 13, 2018 at 12:59 am #1300854Okay, so for my call of Cthulhu game I will be running the Haunting and handing out character sheets either already done and downloaded them from the Internet or simply do some up.
Im not sure when I will run it but it will be between now and four weeks time.
Here is option no 1, £20 total (with delivery):
https://footsoreminiatures.co.uk/products/ira-with-pistols?variant=970587615
Admittedly I want more from this range but to just have a handfull of investigator minis to start off with is sufficient.
Option no 2:
Achtung! Cthulhu Miniatures – Allied Investigators Pack 2
Achtung! Cthulhu Miniatures – Allied Investigators Pack 1
A little too Weird War and Steam Punk in some instances. Very little work to undo this though. Sadly that would involve mutilating these quite frankly brilliant models.
Option no 3:
http://www.statuesqueminiatures.co.uk/p/9143147/sa005-professor-felicity-poppington.html
http://www.statuesqueminiatures.co.uk/p/9048724/paw001-pulp-alley-weapons-1.html (for converting some of the footsore miniatures or Modiphius ones, perhaps)
Walter Corbit, esq., perhaps:
http://www.statuesqueminiatures.co.uk/p/9155541/pa007-apophis—the-shadow-of-chaos.html
http://www.statuesqueminiatures.co.uk/p/9084418/pa006-ramjeet-singh-and-bosun.html
And a huge fan of these two:
http://www.statuesqueminiatures.co.uk/p/8956456/pa003-da-denton-and-red-queen.html
I would love to hear everyones thoughts on my choices and ideas! Im a huge lovecraft fan.
Ive been listening to audiobooks on youtube lately for it.
Also, I want to build the Old Corbit place and mount it on a display board, for the adventurers to go through. Ill do a separate thread for that.
November 13, 2018 at 1:02 am #1300855So hard to decide. I might make the Old Corbitt place first, then get the minis (for budgeting purposes, of course) and then paint them before running a game… hmm….
November 13, 2018 at 10:59 am #1301024Strange aeons? http://strange-aeons.ca/sa/
