With your “weathering”, you’re assuming there is oxygen and not vacuum?
And there’s power?
Most space hulks you see in the background and in games would appear to have atmosphere and power to some degree in the 40k universe. 🙂
It may have happened quickly when a hull breach happened with all the crap being whipped around in the air.
Don’t Genestealers need oxygen to survive ?
Or maybe there’s Orks …
And you don’t need decades of neglect to get stuff like this to rust.
Also keep in mind that the maintenance these things get is based on ritual …
It might even be considered heresy to touch the relics with cleaning agents as it might remove the spirits that house within.
I recall you using some spray on spider/cob webbing. A little of this around the helmets would go a long way to reinforcing the age and abandoment.
I like your thinking 😀
If you do it, can you remind us the name of the product and what company it is from.
Greenstuff world does some spray cobwebbary stuff IIRC……… ah here tis > http://www.greenstuffworld.com/en/paints/694-spider-serum.html
they also sell a special cleaner as its pretty gunky stuff for the airbrush
The turqouise wash made wonder to the overall feel of the scene! I will have to try that out myself thanks for a great vlog as usual.
The board is coming together nicely John.
But why Ultramarines…. XD Couldn’t it be some other faction… it’s Hulk it could have been pre heresy!!!111!!!
Because they are dead 🙂
but but but…. also I just played Fallout 76 BETA… 😛
so. now what was I saying…. i don’t know, it’s late… I’m old… I need coffee!
They’re dead Dave … they’re all dead.
I’m sure the hulk was called ‘Red Dwarf’ in its glory days 😉
I’m sorry Dave. I can’t let you do that.
Nice painting tips John.
A very informative series as always John. I do like how its all coming together. I only wonder what you would have put together and painted if this had have been your (@JohnLyons) version of a VaultTec vault (insert Vault No here along with whatever screwed up shite that happened whst the vault was sealed…. or was it ??)…… would have made for some very interesting games/Let’s Play’s of Fallout….. I cannot want to see a) the finished hulk in its decayed glory, & b) the Let’s Play (don’t care who vs who) of the game you guys will film… Read more »
Great looking next set of colours John, have you thought of using the orange glaze GW do it gives a really nice glow, whilst pooling around the light grill to add depth. Any over spray also adds to the glow effect. It works even better over yellow, so does the green glaze.
Really cool VLOG series as always, John!
It looks very nice, John doesn’t seem to be interacting as much on this project. Could it be that he’s…. super busy!?
Very nice job John; very nice.
