Grimlord Games Take Us On A High Seas Adventure In The Everrain
October 31, 2018 by brennon
Grimlord Games has now hit Kickstarter with their latest project, The Everrain, which sees your crew of intrepid adventurers heading out onto the high seas and braving the elements as well as dangerous creatures that dwell in the darkness.
This story-driven board game has one to four players searching for a way to stop The Everrain from engulfing the world and the dangerous diety that is behind it from finding a new way to rule over this churning new landscape.
"Players must work together to advance the player track around the board by finding ancient relics, exploring the map and launching expeditions ashore. But the enemy is also on this track, and should they advance quicker than the player then the game will become harder as the Old One stirs from its slumber."
Here's what the folks at Grimlord Games have included as part of the core box for the game.
Of course, as with any Kickstarter there are plenty of stretch goals and unlocks and the folks at Grimlord Games have managed to find a whole bunch of them already.
These unlocks show off more of the aspect of the game that we're interested in learning about in more detail. The crew is growing and the options for your explorers as they head out into the vast oceans of the world are very interesting indeed.
As well as this I can't wait to see what they do with the narrative side of the game, unveiling the story and telling a bigger tale as things progress.
Here are some of the other awesome miniatures that can be included as part of your crew.
...and some of the creatures and creepy things that you will be encountering on your travels.
I really like the Cthulu vibe to a lot of these miniatures but I think it's neat that there is also an additional tweak here and there in order to give them their own unique flavour when it comes to world building.
Of course, this hopefully means they're going to be awesome to paint too.
We actually learned more about The Everrain at SPIEL '18 this year so come and take a peek.
Make sure to check out their Kickstarter project in more detail too as it delves deeper into the various facets of the game that make it a very unique prospect.
What do you think of The Everrain?

Damn these are beautiful
Not much on the mechanics of the game at present. I backed their previous games (but still waiting for Gamesquest to actually ship Village Attacks… Gamesquest reputation for being very slow seems justified).
Both Endure The Stars and Village Attacks have a campaign mode which adds longevity to a game, but no indication that Everrain does… not fond of games that have no progressing story and if Everrain doesn’t it will like playing Arkham Horror with the same Old One all the time.
Sounds good the figure’s look brilliant for the game.
Ship models and Lovecraft feeling… i’m in 🙂
Very good video.
Hope to see more of this game soon.
I’m registering for the Village Attacks giveaway 🙂
Take care and please continue to inform us about Boardgames.
Best regards
Is this where I post to get a chance at winning village attacks?! I’ve been looking foward to that for a while—I missed it on KS.
I backed Everain right away—but I need to see a tentative Rulebook or playthough with rules so I can feel confident In that choice! Beasts of War—do a playthough like you did for Awaken Realms’s Nemesis!
I am so backing this game!!! Already missed out on Village Attacks 🙁
Looks like it will be fun. Agree with Chicken the God, need more info / rule book would be good to look at.
Also, Registering for the Village Attacks giveaway.
Was stocked for this the first time I saw it here and so I backed it. I do hope we will see a gameplay video or too.
And what is that about a Village Attack contest?
Came looking for info on Everrain, but would love to get a copy of Village Attacks!
I think I need this game
I am really looking forward to this game!
I am also registering for the give away
My Village Attacks pledge is locked up in a parcel office until I can go get it but I ask digging the look of Everrain. I’m getting Pirates of the Carribean goes grim dark personally! Something quite Curse of the Dead Man’s Chest for me with the drowned sailors and squid faces.
Sadly I just can’t justify the expenditure at the moment and have a ton of previous kick starters landing on my doorstep over the next few months. 🙁
Wonderfull Theme
I love this theme ]:->
Just came here from the kickstarter page. Where i got from backing another Lovecraftian game….damn you targeted advertising! 😉
This game looks stunning, i get the vibe i got from the ‘Sunless sea’ videogame. Backed in an instant! The ‘Village attacks’ also looks great, so…fingers crossed. 😉
