A Sneak Peek At Planet Of The Apes

We got a chance to talk with Tez about what the plans are from WYSIWYG Games when it comes to bringing The Planet Of The Apes to the tabletop in the near future.

The game will be a cooperative experience where you play as the Apes from the popular movie franchise, trying to fight against the human forces that seek to hunt you down.

As well as a proper miniature-based skirmish clash on the tabletop between the two forces, where everyone has no real idea of what the capabilities of your foes are, you can also develop things with another side of the game that has you creating your village too.

Add into that the fact that they’re going to be working on an awesome look back at the old movies too and you’ve got a lot of ace things to look forward to here!

I was wondering how the earlier film would fit into the newer look ones, having them seperate makes sense. I like the idea of the two other games coming together to make one big game though, seems interesting will have to keep my eye on this.

As i said yesterday, if you think about it technically we already live on the Planet of the Apes because humans *are* apes.

Fairly sure it’s down to a translation error, but anyone else cringe slightly every time he called the apes ‘monkeys’. Apes =/= monkeys.

Also, did all the talk of individuals evolving make anyone else think the game sound a bit like Pokemon? ?

Love the idea of the village development and the fog-of-war skills for the AI player is a neat concept.

Loving this and the demonstrator’s accent, however, am I the only person thinking about inspector Clouseau every time he says monkey?? ???

If that’s how the board game comes including the trees that will be amazing

Pretty sure those trees are actually kitchen roll holders with bark and branches glued to them. I like the idea of having the flat areas for minis to stand on.

Nice. Loved the very first movie with Charlton Heston and the original TV series

I think there missing a trick if they don’t do something based on the original 1970’s movies. The slick modern remakes just don’t have the quirky charm of the original movies.

Ok. That looks like it has some really nice mechanics. I’ll have to keep an eye out for it.
