New Ork Codex Lands This Weekend Alongside Vehicles & More
October 22, 2018 by brennon
Games Workshop are following up on Speed Freeks with the release of the new Ork Codex this weekend. That means more dashin', bashin', smashin' and krushin'...because Orks really hate the letter G.
The new Ork Codex comes with all of the updated rules you need to know if you're taking the greenskins onto the tabletop for 8th Edition Warhammer 40,000.
That of course means that you will find rules within for all of the new vehicles that are going to be hitting the tabletop over the next few weeks.
We can imagine that a lot of you are very happy to have the Orks finally hitting the tabletop in greater numbers and with new options for the Mek Boyz in all of us.
One thing to be said for the range is that it really does get the hobby fires burning as we consider new kit bashing opportunities and more. Orks have never been one to sit back and just let a vehicle 'be' after all.
A Hobby Haven...For A Mek
Another of the big releases coming your way is this quirky little piece of terrain.
Here we have the Mekboy Workshop which comes outfitted with all of the things you need to make your vehicles go fasta'.
Betta Dice Fo' Betta Rollin'
As well as the new terrain piece they have also been working on some fancy new dice for those that really love their greenskins. So, if you want these you're going to have to be pretty quick.
These are some rather nice looking dice which certainly have that Ork quality to them. I like the marking choices and the overall battered look.
They are probably not going to be popping up at many tournaments if you're opponent is feeling very unsporting but otherwise they're spot on.
Will you be picking up the new Ork goodies?

I’ll take a look into the codex… let’s hope they didn’t scrap the fluff any further :S Still morn my 2nd edition… so much fun in it.
Well Kommandos are currently missing from the webstore.
Since they are included in Kill Team, I think it likely that they are going to be replaced with a plastic kit, since they were resin.
The Eldar haven’t had a single new kit since killteam or their codex.
So them orks are damn lucky.
I’m excited to see what comes of the Orks! Such a fun army, and I hope this can inspire me to dig out my old boys!
The mek shop is truly under whelming to me. Guess I was expecting to much.
Sure Orks are getting a lot of new kits, however if the rules aren’t worth a damn that really truly doesn’t matter how many kits you get for your army.
However these vehicles really seem to be pushing the ork army away from mobs, and towards vehichles and walkers. Which is cool.
The Ork truck sure looks like crap now.
I think it’s the paintjob. Give it to some proper Ork painters and it’ll look grand.
Also the half steel plates/half gubbins skull is a great nod to (or middle finger raised to) the Ad Mech.
All IMO of course.
Hey, the Ork Trukk is still a great kit – ramshackle and orky. The Battle-Wagon is also still an excellent kit. So many configurations. They should bring out some more conversation kits for it – like the “Big Gun” resin kit from Forge World.
Instead of these “hot wheels” buggies, I wish GW had converted the Forge World “Big Trakks” models to be a hard-plastic kit. And, whilst they were at it, the 4-gun anti-aircraft dakka conversion kit for the Trukk in plastic too!
About damn time.
yay love the dice as well.
Will grab this eventually, but in no hurry … in many ways the whole ork release seems a lot like GW recently, over hyped, and unfocused. Unfocused as I know my buggies and wartracks have been in need of a new model but no wartracks and 6 buggies just seems well random. It seems an idea gets seen as cool and then get jumped upon, no real strategic planning or grand vision driving the design.
Nice minis but nothing that makes me want to rush and get my orks back on the table.
i truly hope that we see different clans again (apart from aesthetics). Seeing the Lets Play of Speed Freaks makes me hopefull…
I really like the dice
