Games Workshop’s Speed Freeks Race Onto Their Webstore Next Week
October 15, 2018 by brennon
Games Workshop are bringing the Speed Freeks to the tabletop this weekend as this new boxed game goes up for pre-order.
Inside the set, you will everything you need for two Ork clans to bash it out on the tabletop with all the mechanical mayhem you'd expect from the greenskins. You will find six Warbikes and two Buggies (which are exclusive to the set) inside the box as well as all of the rules that you need for playing out their clashes.
If you'd like to find out more about the background behind the Speed Freeks and the brutal Speedwaaagh! then you can check out the blog post that Games Workshop put together HERE.
With Vigilus (it's back again!) becoming the focus of so many of their stories right now it seems like the Orks have found some time to tinker...
The Orks quickly discovered that Vigilus’ cities were protected by powerful force fields, making them impregnable to the greenskins’ assault. In their inimitable style, the Orks adapted and turned their attention to their two other favourite activities – scrapping amongst themselves and racing across the length and breadth of the planet.
It sounds like this boxed set is going to be a lot of fun, especially if you just want to thrash it out on the tabletop with something a little less serious during your gaming sessions.
You just have to find the clan for you and get boshin'!
Unusually, it’s not just the speed-obsessed Evil Sunz who take part in the Vigilus races – a huge part of the Ork kultur on the planet has become dedicated to the Speedwaaagh!, with even the staunch traditionalists of the Snakebites and the stealthy Blood Axes eschewing their usual methods of war in favour of joining in the fast and furious fun.

Any news on price? I’ll bet it’s a three figure number.
I would reckon at £90
What would translate to 100+ Euros. :S
Better than 3,865.96 Thai Baht!
80 dollars a vehicle
I love the buggies n bike’s.
Did anyone else notice that the Ork Kommandos set is no longer available for online order? Not temporarily out of stock… I think they were a resin kit, I’ll just go and check. Update – scratch that, they have actually been removed from the website, not just saying no longer available. So maybe a plastic kit in November. I feel disappointed for the Ork players out there… GW seemed to respond to the call for an Orktober but the only new stuff that is likely to come out in that month is this box – preorder on 20th out on… Read more »
At least the orks get new stuff.
Eldar still have the same old elites from days gone by.
The error was hyping Orktober as a big thing, when in reality its a standard codex release with a box game, still cool but a marketting mistep in my view.
“Standard codex release” has quite often meant zero new models in this edition of 40k, so the huge number of vehicles being released this side of Christmas for what is already a very well-supported faction doesn’t give much cause for complaint (though Orks have certainly had a long wait for replacements for the Gorkamorka-era vehicles).
Yeah for a real Orktober I was expecting:
Codex
A couple of new kits
White Dwarf coverage of the above
None of which happened, and it is now too late for them to happen in October, hence my empathic disappointment.
Does have me wondering about GW production timelines, how they plan stuff out and any problems that could happen to delay a planned release.
Even if it was a standard codex release … the real ‘problem’/dissappointment is that the vast majority of releases are not in October.
But then maybe Orktober is spelled ‘November’ when translated to us humans ?
That does look interesting and models are nice so if price isn’t too high it might be worth picking up.
If the rumoured price of 90 quid is correct I am out. New Minis are lovely but I don’t personally see the value
Aaaargh. Oh there’s a massive box of stuff I can’t afford, don’t have time to paint, and really don’t have room for 😮 Yeah I’ll have one. Maybe two.
I dont know about everyone else, but i would say get this box game and add a few other vehicles get some friends together and have yourself a "Demolition Derby". Im with @shinnentai…(though Orks have certainly had a long wait for replacements for the Gorkamorka era vehicles). One thing that could be done with the old Gorkamorka vehicles is this, make yourself a couple of factions with Grots. With a bit of conversion work, you could do wonders with the old trucks and trikes. In this way instead of just having Orks racing round you can have Grots in the… Read more »
