Bolt Action: Western Desert Boot Camp Live Blog - Saturday
Gaming With The Boot Campers - Armoured Rush
Oriskany talks with Mick and Rob about their game which is using two larger armies to fight out a campaign game.
Here we’re seeing the two sides clash amongst the blasted ruins of a desert village. It seems like things are going very well for Rob and Mick is having a bit of bad luck with the dice!
Are those turrets in the ceiling?
Yes, there was a vlog series on them at Christmas time last year.
Good to see a larger game….
Mick and Rob. Bootcamp veterans.
Indeed, @andre77 – they have both been to everyone one I was at. I think Rob has been to every one?
its an addiction…lol
off to rehab now 😉
😀
Luck is a fickle mistress…
a volunteer for the eastern front XD
@Sneakyrabbit and @Rot6 – I’ve tried bringing “Lady Luck” bouquets of roses and boxes of chocolates, hoping she will flutter her sexy eyelashes at me on the tabletop, but often she spurns me. She’s a high-maintenance mistress, to be sure! 😀
If the campaign is already written up I hope you release it online for others to play through.
@lawnor – the “blank” campaign map should be going up in the projects pretty soon if you are interested. 😀
Cool. It’ll be interesting to take it apart and see how it works. plus, as it’s Excel I can do it at work and people might think I’m working!
@lawnor – I’ll try to combine it with more detailed entries of the games and their results – working on that now.
Looks like an epic game
I like the palm trees on the board.
@dignity did great work on those. 😀
Looks like they were having fun
Cover has always been a massive advantage in Bolt Action. Once you grab a key building it is hard to be turfed out of it. Hope you have an awesome time everyone, well done Rob.
are you doint co-op games?
No team games this time at the Boot Camp.
the battle rages on
they need volunteers on the Volga 🙂
@tibour – At least he won’t be dying of desert heat … He should arrive in Ukraine just in time for Case Blue, let’s hope he doesn’t get caught up in that whole Stalingrad fiasco. 😐
great looking game
Sounds like the dice are with the British here. That is a sweet table – they are really coming to life with the armies on them.
@johnlyons and @dignity did tons of fantastic work on the tables, and the 4Ground buildings looked great on the table!
Very fluid? In the pants of the German soldiers, sounds like they’re getting a right bashing
Okay, that’s true. “Fluid” in the campaign, not so much on this table. 🙂
A fantastic first game, the DAK will get their revenge though!
That seems to be one of those games I have a hankering for. Splendid armies on a splendid table and a splendid opponent.
Indeed the Germans make a big comeback later in the campaign, @dukeexeter – and yes, @jemmy everyone was having a fantastic time.
Love the big games!
If I were Mick I’d blame the Italians. 😀
I agree, @silverfox, big games for the win. And yes, @mrtn – there was always a lot of tension between Field Marshal Kesselring, the OKW, and “Commando Supremo” in Rome.
more my crappy dice rolling 🙁
Such is the life of a wargamer. 🙁
MULLIGAN.?
“Mulligan, I don’t think I’me gettin’ through to you. You’re droppin’ yer damned barrage on our position!“
Wow Rob playinhg game on boot camp? I havent see hem doing it once and I was on few…
@radegast6 you were not looking I have played at least 1 gme in every bootcamp I have been at:-) I played two games at this one, I would have played more but because I was not an “official attendee” i had to give the attendees a chance to game on the tables :-)at the Wolsung bootcamp I played 3 games…lol
So much fun.
Things are looking pretty good on that table for the British Commonwealth.
Indeed, @khy0te – @commodorerob turned in a solid win on this one.
Certainly was and @buggeroff enjoed every minute of it 😉
meh! 😉 😉 it was a great game, Rob’s a great opponent. Thanks for a great game Rob
My pleasure, really had a good game 🙂 Have to play more often..lol
Great sportsmanship.
Looks great on the table, sounds like a good little game.
