About the Project
This Project blog is to post the eclectic mix of music I listen to while, building, painting and gaming! Some of it will be game related, some of it will be just stuff I am int at the moment. See it as a hobbyists music recommendations to other fellow gamers. I also encourage others to post their music recommendations and comment on mine...you are always welcome to call my taste terrible, I understand that sometimes it is!

IRON MAIDEN!
In this weekends Weekender, Warren said that Killers was Iron Maidens best album…He obviously meant to say Somewhere In Time, mainly because of this song
Today's Music
Can’t get this classic banger out of my head. Wicked video as well!
Kill Team & Grindcore
Had a great three-way game of Kill Team last week. I was Space Marines going against Death Guard and Necrons. Death Guard took the win sadly!
Not only were we playing Kill Team we were enjoying some excellent Grindcore bangers…
Todays banger is...
Best opening riff ever!
If you like a bit of metal enjoy painting your Troops of Doom while listening to Troops of Doom!
Today's Painting Music
This insanely catchy earworm by Church of the Cosmic Skull (best band name ever?)
Sci-Fi Gaming Music
I bloody love music. You may have guessed that as I have started this Project Blog. I love listening to music when I am gaming to get me in the right mind and make it seem even more like a movie! I know a lot of people don’t like having music while they are gaming as it can be distracting. I understand that 100%! I love it though, the right soundtrack to a miniatures game or an RPG can really make for a cinematic experience!
Here are some of my recommended listening for playing Sci-Fi games.
DROKK: Music Inspired by Mega-City One by Geoff Barrow and Ben Salisbury
This is an amazing album by Portishead and Beak legend Geoff Barrow and David Attenborough documentary composer Ben Salisbury. As the name suggests this is an album of synth-heavy music inspired by the 2000ad Judge Dredd comics. This was initially a proposal for a score for the Dredd movie but was rejected so they decided to just make an album instead, and it’s phenomenal. They went on to score some excellent movies as well Perfect for a bit of Deadzone or Necromunda and any Cyberpunk RPG. Obviously, its good for Judge Dredd games too.
Nostromo by Sleep Research Facility
An extremely interesting album by Scotish Dark Ambient artist Kevin Doherty aka Sleep Research Facility. It is an album of ambient soundscapes inspired by the opening of Alien. If you like “out there” strange music then this is for you! It is perfect for a creepy Sci-Fi horror or a nice game of Space Hulk!
Killing Technology by Voivod
I am not going to talk about Sci-Fi and music without mentioning Voivod! Perfect Sci-Fi themed Thrash Metal from Canada…so you know it’s great! Perfect for any fast-paced, Sci-Fi Skirmish or spaceship battles!
Bolt Thrower - Plague Bearer & Warhammer Records
No blog that involves music and gaming would be complete without the obligatory mention of Bolt Thrower. Easily one of the best Death Metal bands to ever exists! They were keen gamers and after Games Workshop got involved with the artwork of this phenomenal album they decided to create their own, ill-fated record label, Warhammer Records. Despite what a lot of people think, Bolt Thrower was never on Warhammer Records, Earache put out Realm of Chaos. What GW did release was, pretty much terrible. Like seriously bad. They did release an album by the classic Heavy Metal band Saxon but it’s not one of their best. The rest of Warhammer Records output was mostly horrible, dated, poodle perm metal. Bolt Thrower was so much more than a cheesy metal bad, they were something special! Enjoy!
