interesting list, I’ll be looking forward to the paint scheme on the uniforms 🙂 have you decided yet on colours for them, or is that a worry for another day?
That’s future Johns problem 😉
if he’s anything like future Gerry, then he deserves it XD
That’s a nice bit of armour there!
I lost my sanity after building ONE Pz III already..
Imagine building 5… then painting the tyres on all 5… Just sayin 😉
And after painting all those wheels we cover them so in dust one can actually not even see them. Madness..I love it ❤️
Nice looking list @johnlyons, I’m with you on having a realistic list instead of a gamer one. The only risk I see is if Charlie throws lots of 25pdrs on the table. The British get free artillery observers so he could range in on your 88 quite quickly and either force you to move, or risk taking a lot of pins/damage on a 2+. That’s where your up armoured Pz3’s could help to take them out but again depending on how big his gun line is it could be a turkey shoot. Still it’ll look awesome!!!!
I doubt he’ll bring that much artillery. If he did then it would be a rather large points investment and be a lot less mobile.
mmmmm the 88 looks lovely, want an 88…..
Looks like a nice thematic army, looking forward to see how it turns out.
I am by contract obligated to mention that the paint scheme should include more pink. ?
*screams in accuracy*
I will leave this here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FM8ghQJ4TfA&t=3s
Bet the waterslide decals are a bitch on a 1:1 scale tank?
Modeler question – are you going to add the external sand filters to the Stugs ?
Heck, I didn’t even know the sand filters were fitted to them 😛 Or what they look like.
Both Bronco and IRC Dragon put out models of these Tropical Stugs in 1/35 . The filters sort of look like long tubes mounted on the fenders either side of the engine deck with piping . Haven’t got an idea of size but I’m thinking T-34 drum style fuel tanks ( shortened ? )might fit the bill for a quick kit bash
practical/silly question : how does that halftrack move that 88 ?
Is there supposed to be some sort of carriage that carries the 88 when it is hooked up to the vehicle ?
I understand that the rules allow for it, but I am wondering what such a configuration would look like in the real world.
There are a pair of axels that the carriage mounts onto before being towed. See this flames of war product.

Yeah it should have the twin bogie setup. But the plastic kit lacks them.
Rubicon’s 88 gun comes with the bogie wheels and a plastic crew
ah … that explains a lot.
of course it being stationary in games means there isn’t any real need to have this modelled in a wargame.
a nice rounded unit john the finished grubby stug looks great what troops are you having.
troops? PFFFT The only human models in the force are the gun crew and one tank commander 🙂
Lol.
This is going to be fun watching your force transform from bare plastic/resin to tabletop ready.
Again, I loved the skit.
The audio at the start was a bit echo-ey. Maybe its the work station, mic and way John was sitting.
I know nothing of historicals and they aren’t my cup of tea, but I love johns hobby vlogs. The army composition looks interesting with the various vehicles and especially the vehicle drawn gun. Is it always attached to the vehicle pulling it along? I think it would look great on a a base.
Also, are you not concerned he will watch the videos and plan tactics in advance after sussing you out? Haha
Charlie can sus all he wants 😉
Who says he’s telling us the truth ?
He might be showing us a few Panzer 3’s and a lone 88 … only to bring out an army of tigers for the actual fight.
Remember : “Der Feind hört mit!” (the enemy is listening!)
Veteran is very in keeping with Richard Clarkes of Two Fat Lardies view of the Afrika Korps at this time of war.
Not a historical gamer, but who doesn’t love tanks? looking forward to catching up and watching how this progresses.
@johnlyons
Can you post a link to the challenge on the Series link above, I missed it!
