Games Workshop is going to be venturing back into Warhammer Underworlds this weekend with Nightvault, the new Core Box for the game which will offer you the chance to play as two new warbands AND bring in a range of new mechanics to shake up the game too.

Warhammer Underworlds Nightvault - Games Workshop

The new Core Box gives you a new play-space to explore as well as the new warbands. The first of these is the Thorns Of The Briar Queen who will be going up against Stormsire's Cursebreakers. These new characters will be bringing lots of the well-established brutality of Warhammer Underworlds to the tabletop alongside spells which are new devastating abilities which need to be timed right if you want to pull them off.

The models for this new set are looking stunning and once again show off what Games Workshop can do when they focus in on giving their sculptors a moment in time to draw upon. The figures we're seeing from Games Workshop are looking increasingly like the artwork which is always good in my book.

Arcane Hazards & More

As well as the new models we also get some interesting terrain pieces. These Arcane Hazards throw quite the spanner in the works and as well as looking very nice as terrain pieces of their own they might end up being the death of one of your hapless warriors.

Warhammer Underworlds Arcane Hazards - Games Workshop

Away from Warhammer Underworlds, these terrain pieces would also be great for objectives in your games of Age Of Sigmar I reckon. I'm sure we'll find out just how dangerous these new Hazards are in time as cunning players work out how to use them to their advantage.

It wouldn't be a Games Workshop release without them throwing in some additional gubbins for collectors too like deck boxes, dice and more...

...so watch out for those as they usually sell like hotcakes!

New Warbands

Beyond the Nighthaunt and Stormcast Eternals, we are also going to be seeing more warbands pop up for Warhammer Underworlds. The first of these is one that has been teased already but appears to focus around the idea of cunning Grots and their surly Troggoth brothers.

Grot Warband - Games Workshop

Anything that throws more cunning little Goblins into the mix is good in my book. We've seen a lot out of the Orruks for Age Of Sigmar but very little when it comes to the new direction Games Workshop is taking with the Grots. This gives is a good idea of what lies ahead, as well as what we saw in Silver Tower and the like with those Spiderlings.

Talking of Silver Tower, it seems like the servants of Tzeentch are on the move as well with this Tzaangor popping up as part of the preview too.

Tzeentch Warband - Games Workshop

No doubt we're going to be seeing the Disciples Of Tzeentch on the tabletop too. I somewhat hope we get to see another Ogroid make it to the tabletop too like the one in Silver Tower. If that is the direct Games Workshop want to take ALL of the Ogors I would be very happy!

What do you think of this new Core Set for Warhammer Underworlds and the prospect of these new warbands?
