Thanks for the input guys. Been a hectic week but I’ve been reading the comments and taking notes so it’s appreciated!

We’ve been running the club for a year so we are in a great routine with the day to day stuff. It’s really just about what to do with the money. Advertising is basically free between the local community centre, the local paper and Facebook but good tips there!

@hobbyhub – GameFor sounds like a great idea, unfortunately there are very few users in Ireland from what I can see on it. Our members ages range 19 through 60. I like the idea about competitions & prizes

@koraski – it’s a fair point about caring for the assets. We are quite lucky that we have our own locked unit for the community centre where we meet and we already store a number of tables, and a good bit of 40k terrain.

@lordofuzkulak – good tips, the longer game sessions are hard to secure because the community centre  is quite busy on weekends. We could probably do one a quarter but I like the idea.

@angelicdespot – Rewarding regular attendance with a free night is an idea I actually like. It’s better than a blanket free night for everyone, more like a a coffee card buy X and get the next one free. Some interesting ideas on charity & community building too

@limburger – we’re actually going a year formally – we did go through all of that pain in the ass legal crap a year ago but it’s definitely something that new clubs have to deal with

@phaidknott – yeah unfortunately politics seems to get into everything, even a local games club. We’ve always owned stuff and we haven’t had any trouble so far. It might be worth having a formal agreement in place about what happens to the assets if the club disbands though. For the most part the club runs itself, people are pretty easy going about most things thankfully! When this becomes more work than fun that’s a sign to step away
