Zouliatis Sculpts More Ancient Greeks For War Banner
September 10, 2018 by brennon
Stavros Zouliatis continues to impress as he gets stuck into more models for War Banner. As we've seen in some previous updates they have been working on a set of Ancient Greeks and recently they finished off a Lochagos.
A Lochagos (I am reliably informed...by Facebook) is a leader of Heavy Hoplites in a Greek army. To answer a question that popped up elsewhere as well it does seem that Greeks did indeed have those plumes on their helmets!
This model is looking commanding and dangerous even in this early form and seems like the perfect leader for a band of Spartans looking to hold some warm entrances. The cloak is also incredibly diorama worthy!
Imagine this fellow standing atop a big rock, his Spartan warriors arrayed around him, the wind blowing hard and rain lashing down from the skies above. It would be very cinematic and evocative indeed.
The Dead & The Dying
As well as this Greek we also saw them working on some more Dying Greeks. This latest collection of casualties includes peltasts and archers, the skirmishers of these ancient armies.
I think casualty markers are great for any game, not just Historical ones. I like the idea that they could be used as markers for various conditions, helping you avoid having to use tokens which break the immersion.
Imagine a battlefield littered with models like this showing off where all of the bloody action has taken place!
What do you make of the new models coming out soon from War Banner?

lovely stuff the range that Stavros is putting together is beautiful, and it has been scaled to match the victrix plastics so plenty of opportunity to really flesh out a Greek warband or army with hese guys.
