Raise Your Flock In The Latest Carcassonne Expansion
August 31, 2018 by cassn
Sit atop the French hills, tending your flock and drinking wine from your own vineyard in this latest Carcassonne expansion.
Carcassonne: Hills and Sheep is the ninth expansion for the classic tile-laying game. Players have to use forward-thinking to claim the lushest meadows for points, building their hills and vineyards, and always looking out for the wolf that is lurking among the drawn tiles.
Hills operate as tie-breakers. When one hill tile drawn, another random tile is placed below it, elevating it on the tabletop. In the event of a "shared majority" draw, the player with a follower on the hill receives the point.
Vineyards produce wine for the monasteries, making sabotaging your opponents monastery a much more rewarding move.
Finally, shepherds are new pieces for field placements. When the shepherd's field size is increased, players can either expand their flock or trade them in for profit. Draw a sheep and place it close to your shepherd, or trade in your current sheep for anywhere between 1-4 points each, depending on the number of sheep on the tile.
However, lurking within the sheep are two wolves, and the longer you expand, the more likely they are to be drawn. Draw a wolf and all your sheep will be taken away as it decimates your entire flock. That's one hungry wolf.
Carcassonne is an established game in tabletop gaming, and fans will be happy with this latest expansion. It's currently available for pre-order through Z-Man Games website.
