@woldenspoons – okay I think I understand you question now.  But really the answer is kind of the same.

Usually I am not wargaming just for the wargame.  It’s part of a larger project, campaign, article series, etc.  If so, then wild, off the chart additions like flying monkeys actually do kind of get me irate just because of the “damage” they do to the project.

To use your example – if I’m setting up the Battle of Oriskany for a Revolutionary War series (actually we’ve had the Battle of Oriskany in AWI/AR series on BOW … twice) … flying moneys would get me irate because now I can’t use the photos for the articles.

 

This “second purpose” covers 90% of my gaming.

But if my opponent and I set something up ahead of time just for fun, or if the “off-the-wall” aspect is the whole point (e.g., the ongoing “Christmas Carnage” series), then absolutely, no worries at all.  😀
