Come and join us for another delve into the Forums and Projects to find the best of the best from the last week or so. We're going to be getting stuck into lots of great looking pieces this week...

...make sure to always let us know what YOU have been working on and share it across the site.

Horse Painting Guide by brushstroke

We start off with a well deserved golden button for brushstroke. I hate painting horses. I don't know what it is but it might be the fact that they suck you into an oblivion of batch painting! Anyway, brushstroke has put together a wonderful Project Guide which runs through how to achieve a variety of different horse colours.

Horse Colour Guide #1 by brushstroke

With each of the different tutorial images, he goes into detail about the steps that you need to engage with in order to get the desired result which is pictured above. He has done painting guides for a range of different horse types so that you can vary up your herd.

Horse Colour Guide #2 by brushstroke

One of the colours that I was most interested in seeing was a slightly dappled look and sure enough, he has done a tutorial on that here as you can see with this Gondorian horse.

Horse Colour Guide #3 by brushstroke

brushstroke is not just content with being a great painter but also making sterling tutorials as well! This is a nice way to get to grips with the colour schemes with an easy to follow tutorial. The only things missing are some progress pictures but I'm sure that is something you could find by asking brushstroke for some more help!

Maybe I won't be quite so put off by painting horses now?

Blood Bowl Orcs by follypuff

From here we move onto the equally awesome painting of this Blood Bowl Orc team by follypuff!

Blood Bowl Orcs #1 by follypuff

This was a challenge that follypuff set themselves where they had to paint yellow! I think that the scheme has come across exceptionally well with a vibrant and punchy yellow which also works well alongside the battle damage that scores the armour.

I really like the conversion above as well which takes one of the Orruk Warbosses from Age Of Sigmar and brings him into the world of Blood Bowl. It's a good fit for a Captain perhaps or one of your surly Black Orc Blockers!

Blood Bowl Orcs #2 by follypuff

Here is the team in full showing off how the entire collection knits together very nicely indeed!

Blood Bowl Orcs #3 by follypuff

The battle damage in particular really stands out to me as I have mentioned before and I think that as a team this would look exceptionally striking on the tabletop. I like that there is actually a slight distinction in the Orcish skin colour between the various playing positions. The lighter skin on the Thrower works in tandem with his weaker physique compared to the Blitzers and Black Orcs with their darker tones.

Flames Of War Stuka by leonjong

Finishing things off for the Golden Button Community Spotlight for this week we have some Flames Of War and this exceptionally Stuka by leonjong.

Flames Of War Stuka #3 - leonjong

Working on a project that you think is really cool is a sure fire way to make sure that you finish the project and I think that leonjong has shown his particular enjoyment for this plane in the finished article.

The little dapples of camouflage across the plane mixed with the weathering and detailed panel work make this plane stand out. You have to also commend his work on the cockpit and the skyline reflected in the glass.

Flames Of War Stuka #1 by leonjong

leonjong has gone into detail about the various steps that he took to create the scheme on the plane and you can follow along with this in the Project linked above. I would always be worried about getting that two-tone look between the top and bottom of the plane just right!

Flames Of War Stuka #2 by leonjong

It's nice to see more people tinkering with planes, even if these are a little bigger than the ones you'd see for Blood Red Skies. With a larger surface area to work with you have to be careful with the details and making them look like the real aircraft rather than just toys.

I look forward to seeing more of his Afrika Korps!
