Been a busy weekend as I had to work Saturday , not my usual day so its thrown me totally off my schedule . Answers to the questions – 1. Fav historical period is WW 2 because of all the cool tanks that were used on all sides in the conflict . I have a lot of Bolt Action vehicles ( about 60 ) and probably 250 troops ( 100 Russians , 100 Germans , 30 odd Japanese and the rest Brits / Canadians / Polish ) Now the thing is I’ve never felt the urge to play , I would rather build and kit bash vehicles and figures . There is a group locally that plays , but although I sit in a watch now and again , I usually get involved by building scenery ( barb wire fences , hedge hogs ,fox hole , beach obstacles , etc ) for the guys . Its a win /win IMO . My second fav historical era would involve Vikings , there is a few here who play Saga , and if I ever get my shit together I should build and paint up a raiding party or two .
2. Sci Fi all the way . Come on , Terminator , Aliens , Star Trek , Star Wars , whats not to love ? Also partial to the Blade and Underworld movies , so Vampires , are they fantasy or Sci Fi ?
3. I don’t get Twitter , Facebook and all that other stuff where you ” follow ” someone and read about them buying a Coke and eating a sandwich and all the other crap people want to share . Maybe its an age thing but it seems really dumb to me .
4.Vallejo Paint has started to replace all the other various types I have , some going back to 70s Humbols . And for some reason 70s Humbrols are still good in the tin and the new stuff you buy seems to go bad in about 4 months , wtf ? So I am slowly replacing all colors with Vallejo when possible , the Vallejo leaflet dosen’t show matches for all paint brands and colors yet but with every new Vallejo line the list gets shorter . A color I really like is 70.914 Green Ochre which despite its name is a light sand/yellow color , a perfect match IMO for Humbrol matt 94 Brown Yellow a color I’ve used for years on my German tanks .
5. I’m going to think some more about this question
I’ve had a couple of weeks of lousy builds and paint jobs . Things just haven’t gone right , from tipping over a bottle of paint on a just finished kit , to sendinng pieces flying across the work bench while trying to cut them off the sprue . And of course the old drop a tiny piece on the floor , roll your chair back and crush it trick , one of those weeks . So , I’ve dug out a few things that I started a while ago . A couple of Space Marine Mice from Reaper , a few winter Russians I’m turning into Poles with some metal heads I ordered from some place in Russia and some resin bits I’ve made myself , as well I’ve got a couple of seated Germans to finish that should end up perched on a knocked out Russian tank , photos for the home front kind of diorama
