As a painting project this is by-the-numbers Army Painter: blue primer, fill in  a few details, dark tone wash, dry-brushed highlights. The only extra step I took was to paint the helmets and shoulder pads with a high-gloss varnish, much as they appear on the TV show.

I’m not a fan of the plastic Warlord bases, so I put these on some Fenris Games bases that I bought for a different project but didn’t end up using. They’re a little large, but I think they help the Sontarans seem short and squat, even at the larger scale Warlord is using for this range.

While I was at it I whipped up a few of the old Harlequin/Orbis Ice Warriors. Same technique: green primer, details, strong tone wash, dry-brushed highlights — not all that exciting, but it does get a lot of miniatures done quickly.
