Let The Wookie Win! New Star Wars: Legion Releases Announced
August 3, 2018 by brennon
Star Wars: Legion expands in the near future with a look towards allies on both sides of the galactic conflict. The Rebels, however, get to call upon the warriors of Kashyyk as Chewbacca and his Wookie Warriors join the fray.
The first big announcement this week from Gen Con was for the Chewbacca Operative Expansion which gives you a partner for Han Solo on the field. It is pretty dangerous as you might imagine and comes armed with his deadly Bowcaster throwing two red and two white dice into the shot!
Chewbacca is a dangerous individual but he really shines when teamed up with the likes of Han Solo or indeed Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa. He has a Teamwork ability which allows him to work in tandem with them, benefitting from their tight bond of friendship.
The miniature looks pretty darn awesome for Chewbacca too I must say and a big step up considering the rather disappointing Han Solo miniature they revealed earlier in the year.
Let The Wookie Win!
Chewbacca can also bring some of his allies from Kashyyk to come and play 'smash the stormtrooper' with the Wookie Warriors expansion.
As you might have guessed from their armaments, the Wookie Warriors are good at getting up close and personal with their enemy and taking them down in melee.
These warriors are key when it comes to a Rebel commander deciding on who to send out for an objective. These Wookies love delving through difficult terrain and if they can corner their foes they will be able to pin them down in combat and make them pay.
Future Releases
As well as these new Wookies the team at Fantasy Flight Games also announced two new Specialists Boxes which will be arriving in the near future.
These Specialists allow you to use a range of generic Commanders on the tabletop from grizzled veterans through to medical droids and the like.
This all comes at the crest of a Clone Wars-era wave as Fantasy Flight look to delve deeper into the background of Star Wars over the coming years.
You're certainly not wanting for expansions!

I can always want 🙂
Models look good, but hope there are more Wookie options.
It’s good to see some more Wookies.
Wookies look nice and the Specalist expansions are also very interesting. But I could also go with a new Han Solo expansion.
Loving the fact Chewie is on the way and the Specialists look nice as well,i look forward to more information dropping about them, maybe you can take the Imperial Officer as a generic Commander ? I surprise myself by not being too fussed by the Wookie unit though,i think Chewie will be all the Wookie i need for playing Legion.
Indeed what a wookie https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=t0vsNFO2pDg
Attack of the killer Yeti’s.
Good to see Chewie get into the game, great sculpt as well. Wookies are nice, but I tend to gravitate towards stuff in the films. For me the support packs are my favourite, generic commanders are great for widenning options.
Clone war armies are going to be very cool, although I would like them to fill out more options for the existing factions first
But Wookies were in films. Sure not in any of movies of original trilogy but we saw them in RotS.
I meant as units within the rebel alliance, they may of course be dual faction with the clone wars republic
There’s also the Holiday Special- which remains part of the official canon. Loads of wookies. That’s also where we were first introduced to Kashyyyk and Boba Fett.
Maybe we can have a unit wearing their Wookie Life Day robes.
I think that Chewbacca is far and away the best paint job we’ve seen from Fantasy Flight.
I’ve been pretty upset with them for not painting their minis better to show them off, so I hope this is a new direction and not a random fluke.
