I’m interested in how this is going to turn out, hopefully the rusty weapons give them something to jump out off the table with.
Gonna be interesting to see how much contrast you can get with a scheme that will effectively by a lot of different brown tones. Watching with interest.

Hi John, you’re absolutely correct – painting the weapons first is the better option, and yes I’m watching along to see how it works out! In my case, my painting time is fairly sporadic, so my focus was getting enough paint on quickly to get some games in, so the washes came a bit earlier than if I was aiming to complete the units all in one go. I’m paying for that a bit now, as I’ll need to do additional washes in some parts once I block out the base colours. Regarding the washes, I mainly used sepia, to… Read more »
Looks good so far, I painted mine in the standard gw colours. I’ll finish the project off once I have some time for a few good photos
others must of asked this, but…. does john use cavalry brown on all his projects? on more serious note. this looks like a great paint scheme to an army to a playable Painted level that can enhanced as and when time allowed. great work john and georgesealy! (must remember to go give georges project a read and click those buttons)
