Where the inspiration come from
I have had this piece of root system on my hobby desk for over six months. When I first saw it I immediately saw a floating skirt, but at the time I couldn’t find a model that I felt was right. I even tried to sculpt some robes in Greenstuff but failed to live up to my standards.
This year I have experimented with bringing parts of nature into the miniature hobby. Mainly roots and twigs. It is exiting to experiment with texture and form without any goal or army in particular.
But yesterday lightning struck and I ran down to my hobby store and got me the new Olynder model. She will be perfect with some heavy modifications. First I wanted her to be apart of my Shadelocke campaign so I introduced some 40k elements to her. She was the caretaker of the thornmoon but her memory had faded and now she is more an oracle that aimlessly wanders the green forests.
=I=
On the upper part I have added some mechadendrites from the electro priest kit and sculpted my own that in the end will hold up her dress. I conveniently managed to remove the arm that was supposed to do that by mistake 🙂
I will have to sculpt the back part of the hood to cover the rather shoddy greenstuff work I have done there.
I have also added an hour glass instead of a rather fantasy looking staff. I managed to mangle her hand in the process but the alternative is to completely remove her hand so it will stay for now.

The lower part will need some more work where I will trim the roots and then sculpt an under skirt that will cover the root foundation. The base will be rather simple since it will be obscured by the roots.
I might add some small nicknacks hanging from her if I find any that fit in my rather unorganized bitz box.
So what do you think? Am I on the right path?
