CMON Drive Off To The Wacky Races With New Board Game
July 26, 2018 by dracs
CMON has announced that they will be releasing a board game based upon the classic 60s cartoon Wacky Races.
In Wacky Races, players can take on the role of any of the iconic drivers and cars from the original show, competing to win first place while dodging the traps and tricks laid down by the game's controlled Dick Dastardly.
"Designed by Andrea Chiarvesio and Fabio Tola, races are simple, yet strategic, as players place cards down indicating the terrain tiles their racer will move to, with the last card played indicating where Dastardly and Muttley will end up. However, it wouldn’t be wacky without a little trouble standing in the way.
Racers will need to dodge or negate traps set by Dastardly as he attempts to stay ahead of the pack. Racers can choose between single races lasting 10-15 minutes or the Championship mode, offering unique rulesets changing from race-to-race before a winner is named."
As a kid, I loved the Wacky Races. We had an old VHS with about three episodes on it that I watched repeatedly. I'm really excited to see this fun franchise come to the tabletop.
It's pretty much the original kart racer game and should appeal to a lot of families when it comes to choosing their next game.
Muttley, do something!

Sniggering like Mutley right now – can’t wait to see this released.
One of the special rules – whoever’s Dick Dastardly and Mutly can never win because they’re contractually obliged to be too busy trying to cheat/screw over the other racers. ? (Just reread the article and it sounds like DD&M are AI controlled, but I stand by my comment as otherwise it ruins my joke ?) @dracs – who was/is your favourite racer? Also, did I just imagine it, or was there a sci-fi version of Wacky Racers too? Vaguely remember watching a similar show with space ships in addition to the regular Wacky Racers as a kid. Back to actually… Read more »

That wasn’t it; the one I’m thinking of was from back in the sixes/seventies; same age as Wacky Racers.
Think this is what I was thinking of:

I suspect that while some of these shows are classics, some of them like that one are probably forgotten for a very good reason
Well, I imagine the rights weren’t all that expensive on this one.
I remember Yogi’s Space Race!
Horray for 90s Saturday morning cartoons being comprised 90% of reruns of cartoons from other decades. ?
I’m looking forward to the Gaslands conversions from this
Lol this may be fun.
