CMONs Cthulhu: Death May Die Funded & Bringing Forth The Elder Gods
July 12, 2018 by deltagamegirl22
In typical CMON fashion, their latest Kickstarter, Cthulhu:Death May Die, was fully funded in no time and busting through stretch goals left and right.
I don't know about anyone else, but I cannot wait to have a look at these painted minis at Gen Con!
At this point, there are twelve additional investigators joining the cause and three additional cultists- and now we're moving on to the Elder Gods! I couldn't miss the opportunity to show off the Elder God, Dagon, who's up next in the stretch goal lineup. He looks like an absolute menace - all gooey and full of tentacles in the body of a dragon!
Without even having played the game, it's hard not to want it just for the miniatures. Any self-respecting fan of Cthulhu has got to be drooling over these minis. And as it turns out, that's using the term "minis" rather loosely.
I know we saw the unpainted images of the giant Cthulhu previously, but have a look at it after the master Angel Giraldez takes a brush or two to it.
If you weren't that impressed before, make sure you lean in close to see the tiny (normal sized) cultist figure on the base for scale!
Will you be rounding up a band of investigators to attempt to kill the great Cthulhu?

Brilliant looking this dragon eel and the zilla god monster is fabulous looking painted.
Just watched the ga,e[;ay video and I suspect this will be dividing potential backers in a similar way that Solomon Kane suffered.
DNA wise I’m seeing elements of a range of games… sorting out my thoughts on this one.
I played Solomon Kane at UKGE and while it was certainly an interesting idea I didnt actually enjoy playing it. It wasn’t fun. I have this one backed though so fingers crossed.
I backed it but am very, very unhappy how cmon handled the early birds and the big guy pldge wise. I do love anything ctulhu though, and I certainly hope there will be across over with the others, which is imho so far the best game made by cmon. High hopes for this one.
Yeah, the early birds were weird.
Personally, I try to avoid considering how much I maybe could have spent on something, and just try to decide if the current price is one that I’m willing to pay.
In the case of the giant Cthulhu, the answer seems to have been yes.
Mike McVey has been a really good influence on CMON’s minis range. I’m really loving the take on the Elder Gods.
So far, I think Hastur is the best mini in the KS.
Given the amount of KS Exclusive content this game will not be worth buying at retail (if it ever gets to retail). More FOMO marketing tactics, throw loads of plastic at the project, lets hope the game is worth playing. I’ll pass.
Some lovely stuff there but I didn’t take the plunge. The only models I really have uses for are the cultists and smaller monsters like the Deep Ones. The big stuff is very pretty but as I would never play the actual board game (mechanics didn’t appeal) they would just be painting-only fodder for me, and life too short fo’ dat!
Swing and a miss for me.
Not feeling the design of most of the mythos stuff. While I appreciate them not going the Cthulhu Wars rute, keeping to much with the traditional designs, The Deepones don’t look scary at all, there is something off with Cthulhu stuff and Hastur is the best of the lot. If I didn’t already have Reaper and Cthulhu Wars minis for my mythos stuff maybe I would get this but eh
Wow, I was just in the middle of trying to catch up on all the stuff I wanted from the pledge managers of a couple of other Kickstarters when this one sneaks up and batters me over the wallet.
I would have waited till retail, but I MUST HAVE THAT GIANT CTHULHU!!!
