Mythic Games Tease Their Next Big Project
July 6, 2018 by brennon
Mythic Games has now finished their Solomon Kane Kickstarter. But, they left a lovely little teaser for folks to check out as they venture forth towards their next project...
We have some interesting things to work with here. It's clearly set during World War II and within a Wierd World War setting to boot...if you hadn't guessed by the massive mech there.
Behind that, we have the image of a character there with a scar across his nose. Could he be one of the heroes of this new story they're looking to tell or an enemy that someone needs to hunt down?
Make sure to do some zooming and dissecting of the image and see what else you can find!
What are your ideas as to their next project?

Flipping heck! @johnlyons is gonna shit himself lol
This is pretty much the only reason we did it…
Sounds reasonable.
Prime me in “Interested” Basecoat me in “Anticipation” Shade with “Impatience” and Highlight in “HURRY UP”
How about a Wolfenstein game, looks similar to that.
I was thinking ‘Wolfenstein’ too … because they’ve done licensed games.
One can never have enough WWWII mechs.
Colour me interested
This is nat ze type of game I like the look of.
Allied, I’m really interested.
Would be great to see something with minis like konflict 47 or dust, but with an espionage element to gameplay. Whatever the game ends up being I can’t wait to see the minis, mythic have to be some of the best looking on the market currently.
Fantastic artwork, certainly has my attention.
Looks interesting, wonder what it could be?
Looks like William “B.J.” Blazkowicz to me with Wolfenstein on the tabletop…..I’m in.
Holy Moly…take my money NOW!!
A bit skycaptain with advanced tec running amok on a battlefield.
I love to hate these guys 😀
And we hate to love you! :p
But I am so cuddly 🙂
So true
Weird War II is not an original idea, loads of games like that already.
I predict a plastic heavy game that will be Kickstarter only with a high buy in, lots of addons to crank up the price.
Yawn!
And they will probably try and make the french look heroic.
Obviously our teaser image has been a little misleading. It is actually a frank and tender portrayal of forbidden love across the social classes in Edo period Japan. A powerful game of deep emotions which will leave you feeling like your heart has been ripped from your chest and displayed for all to see. Also, the French are the heroes and it comes with seven hundred minis….
Great reply, made me chuckle, though wouldn’t that also be a great game idea?
But I’m personally not a fan of KS exclusive games because once the KS and Late Pledge time is over you can’t get the game, games that go on retail you can always get later when you have time + money…
But I also do understand why you do it and as a player of Dust Tacics back in the day and Wolfenstein I will surely take a look at this.
We’re not an exclusively Kickstarter exclusive company. It’s a decision we make on a project by project basis for various different reasons. It also doesn’t mean we don’t ever want the game to be available again. Only that it won’t go into regular retail distribution. For Solomon Kane we made retailer pledges available so it will be in some stores when it fulfills.
I’ll stick to Tannhauser, Incursion and Fireteam Zero….
and as Al Murray would say… “Oi!!! No french”
Where would we be if we didn’t have any rules? France!
And no one wants to be there… especially not the English… we’re going through a messy divorce with france and few of it’s neighbours… I think they call it europe.
I was thinking the same. (W)WW2 is getting rather overdone and stale by now.
Nice! Hopefully it will be 28mm scale and not ‘over-scaled’ so it can be used with broader rulesets 😀
Just curious, were there Myths in WWII?
I love mechs because my first real game was Battletech. I have collected many over the years so I will be on board this KS project. I assume this is 2019 project?
Off-topic: I keep hoping someone will help Triton Noir get V-Commandos back in print.
Some of the stuff that actually happened has a myth-like quality to it.
I know the Indiana Jones had a spin on the Ark of the Covenant. Many comics originating from that time had themes being Captain America or others. I believe the Lord of Rings was written during the London bombing raids and it had themes of the armies of the world coming together. I was just wondering if there was any myths of the time that people believed that was prevalent during that era.
No, not stories that were created during that time, but real actual events.
People like Jack Churchill going to war armed with sword and longbow :

After the “Everything” level of Solomon Kane, how is my wallet to survive this onslaught?
I like the idea. Tannhauser worked well as a boardgame and incursion would have been great as a kickstarter if that were possible back then. A new WWWII hybrid boardgame is welcome. And Solomon Kane proved Mythic can look outside the box when it comes to gameplay. Could be awesome.
No, No – Joan of Arc flattened my GBP reserves, and this looks likely to do the same.
Please keep it to the same scale as ‘JoA’ as 15/18mm legendary scale works really well for post C20 games.
I wait most information with interest, and a crying credit card
I too would love for it to be 15mm legendary. That scale has so much potential!
Looks like Leo’s been dropping some spoilers (as he tends to do), so I can say that the game isn’t a license but is an original IP.
